Support Our Military Through Corporate Engagement
April 4, 2024
Giving back feels good – no matter who you are or who you work for. When businesses leverage their resources for good through corporate engagement, great things can happen. This is especially true for corporations with large teams of people and budgets set aside to do so.
If you’re looking for a way to give back, why not support a nonprofit that supports Service Members and Veterans who sacrifice in service to our country? Soldiers’ Angels offers many opportunities for corporate engagement partnerships, employee engagement events, and other initiatives. So next time you’re hanging out around the office water dispenser, here are a few corporate engagement ideas you can bring up to your co-workers.
Add a giveback component to your next event
Have a conference or major event coming up? Why not add a giveback component to your next corporate engagement event? We’ve had companies set up activity tables to write cards and letters, make No Sew Blankets or pack box lunches. This is a nice addition to an event, as it gives attendees a brain break between sessions and helps us out as a nonprofit.
Here’s a great example of how Navy Federal Credit Union incorporated a No Sew Blanket-making component to their holiday gathering. You could also make it a fun challenge, like Ellie Golden Life who challenged their team to pack 1,400 care packages in an hour!
Employee Engagement
Employee engagement is important for retention and workplace happiness. Making your engagement efforts altruistic is even better! Corporations can accomplish a lot when they bring teams together for good. We’ve seen departments adopt families for the holidays, coming together to shop, wrap, and deliver holiday spirit. We’ve seen large-scale initiatives where teams of people set a goal to create X amount of Paracord bracelets or pack hundreds of care packages. We always need support and love finding something your team will be excited to do.
Volunteer Opportunities
There are countless benefits to volunteering, so why not commit to volunteering as a team? We love hosting teams at our monthly Military & Veteran Food Distributions. These large-scale events take lots of people to pull off and are always a good time. We also host lots of events for Veterans within the VA Hospitals we serve. Volunteers can help with luncheons, coffee service, or other Veteran appreciation initiatives. There’s nothing better than actually seeing and interacting with those you serve.
Collection Drives
Soldiers’ Angels collects items throughout to the year to distribute overseas to deployed Service Members, across the country to active duty military installations, and within the Veteran communities we serve. Setting up a collection drive at your office is a great and easy way to help.
Our Collection Drives include:
- Warm Feet for Warriors (socks)
- Operation Warm Winter (blankets, jackets, etc)
- Treats for Troops
- Honor Military Working Dogs
- Holiday Stockings for Heroes
- Go Camo
Home of the Brave
The Soldiers’ Angels Home of the Brave Campaign is an effort started in 2012 to connect corporate giving with VA Hospitals across the country to celebrate Veterans Day. This Nationwide effort is championed by corporate partners and happens in VA Hospitals and Medical Centers across the country. The goal? To make Veterans feel loved and appreciated. Home of the Brave sponsors spend all year coordinating and planning giveback events with employees for Veterans Day week. Efforts range from parades to luncheons, to patient visits or simply handing out comfort items to Veteran patients.
Each year, VA facilities can register with us and select the type of event they would like to have in celebration of Veterans Day. From there, our corporate sponsors contribute to the cost of the Home of the Brave celebrations and provide the volunteer base from among their employee population to execute the event.
Sponsorship
Last but not least, sponsoring one of our Military & Veteran Food Distributions or VA Hospital events is a great way to give back, helping us with the resources we need.
Committing to any one of these efforts goes a long way towards helping us serve our mission of ensuring no Service Member or Veterans feels unloved. Learn more about corporate engagement here.
