Our Warm Feet for Warriors sock drive is officially open and as usual, we have big goals. To help us get there, and encourage lots of participation, we are encouraging businesses, schools, organizations, and civic centers to commit to doing a sock drive. We love seeing photos of creative sock drive set-ups so this year, we’re starting a friendly competition: who has the most creative Warm Feet for Warriors Collection set-up?

Want to join in? Here’s how to create a Soldiers’ Angels Warm Feet for Warriors Collection Drive.

Step 1: Check with your location 

Before you launch a collection drive, please be sure to check with your office, school, church, or group regarding any regulations they may have on hosting a collection drive.

Step 2: Register as a volunteer

If you are not already an Angel volunteer, head to our website and register. After you register or log in, you’ll be able to select a Warm Feet for Warriors opportunity to support. Search our database to find an opportunity/shipping address close to you (a VA or Military installation) or select to support a deployed Service Member or deployed Chaplain.

Step 3: Create your set-up

Grab a box and decorate it, make a bin out of a laundry hamper… choose a vessel people can drop socks into. Next, get some signage. Soldiers’ Angels has lots of downloadable templates with details on Warm Feet for Warriors. Print them up and put them near your bin (you can find marketing materials here). 

Step 3: Promote

Let the world know you’re collecting socks for troops and veterans through the Warm Feet for Warriors campaign. Emails, social media, word of mouth, signage… promote promote promote. Be sure to tell people WHY socks are important and why you support Soldiers’ Angels. Not one for words? Here’s a blurb you can use:

“I’m collecting socks for Soldiers’ Angels Warm Feet for Warriors! Did you know that socks are one of the most requested items from both deployed service members and veterans? Think about how great it is to put on a fresh pair of socks. Drop your socks off at [INSERT LOCATION] by [DEADLINE].” 

You can also reach out to local media to share that you are collecting socks. We’ve had a few companies and individuals get the word out that way. Here’s a story from a High Schooler who collected 1600 pairs!

Step 4: Share your photos with us

Take photos of your set-up, tell us about your company, and share why you’re supporting Warm Feet for Warriors. We will add you to a photo album and ask followers to vote on the best display. We’ll even tag you! Upload your photos via our Media Portal here. 

Step 5: Send your socks

Ship your socks to the address you choose in our database between February 1st – March 31st and they will count towards our Warm Feet for Warriors goal for this year. Please mark your box(es) Soldiers’ Angels Warm Feet for Warriors to ensure the recipient can connect them to the campaign.
