Youth Fundraising: Better Than a TikTok Challenge

It’s hard to ignore the crazy stunts people pull on social media channels like TikTok and Instagram. Unfortunately, many of these challenges end poorly: injury, hospitalization, or worse. The pressure to “go viral” can drive young people to do risky things for attention. But it doesn’t have to be this way! We’ve got a challenge for youth that’s healthier and more impactful than the One Chip Challenge, the Savage dance, or the dangerous, banned ones we will not speak of: youth fundraising.

We challenge you… to fundraise!

Want to make a big splash and make an impact on a community that deserves it? Start a fundraiser for Soldiers’ Angels! Fundraisers don’t have to be boring: challenge yourself to do something epic like pushups every day or handstands all summer long. Maybe even take the viral plank challenge and get people to donate to see you do it! Remember Patriotic Kenny? That fundraiser started on TikTok and took the world by storm using the platform GoFundMe to raise money. We have a platform of our own for fundraisers just like that one, where funds go directly to Soldiers’ Angels.

Soldiers’ Angels makes it easy to get creative and dream big with our peer-to-peer fundraising platform. Whether it’s a lemonade stand or a headstand challenge, we challenge you to do something meaningful with your time. And you know what? You can use social media channels like TikTok and Instagram to get followers, family, and friends to donate!

Put the FUN in Fundraiser

The sky is the limit for creating your fundraiser but if you’re a bit stumped, here are some ideas:

  • Go the distance: Challenge yourself to complete a race, long walk, or bike ride. Raise money while you train for the big day (check out our Marathon Training team for inspiration).
  • Feats of strength: show your commitment and your strength by committing to pushups, burpees, headstands, or whatever your feat is. Promise to do a certain number or length of time for every dollar or other increment raised. For example: 1 burpee for every dollar raised. Then post video updates of you doing the burpees at major milestones – or daily depending on how the fundraiser is going.
  • Not into physical challenges? Take up crafting and fundraise by selling items!
  • Love the challenge of a TikTok dance? Why not raise money for it? Commit to learning a few and reveal your completed dance video at certain fundraising milestones. You could even let donors pick the dance!
