Military Care Packages: What to Send in Summer Months
July 15, 2025
During the summer months, deployed Service Members often endure intense heat and challenging conditions that can take a toll, especially when they are far from home. Sending a care package filled with thoughtful seasonal items not only helps meet practical needs, but it also lifts spirits and offers a reminder of care and connection. At Soldiers’ Angels, we’ve created a list of ideas for assembling the perfect warm-weather care packages with a focus on comfort and hydration.
Cooling Essentials and Accessories
In hot climates, staying cool and dry is key. Moisture-wicking socks help prevent blisters and discomfort, while cooling towels and lightweight headgear offer relief from the heat. Neutral or uniform-friendly colors like black are best for items worn on duty.
- Moisture-wicking socks
- Cooling towels or neck wraps
- Hand fans/Mini fans
Personal Care Items
Heat and sun exposure can lead to irritation and dehydration. Sunscreen and lip balm with SPF are essential, while after-sun lotion helps when Service Members get burnt.
- Sunscreen
- After-sun lotion
- Lip balm with SPF
- Foot powder

Hydrating Beverages
Staying hydrated is a top priority in hot conditions. Drink mix packets with electrolytes can help replenish lost nutrients. If you’re including food and hygiene items in the same care package, it’s always a good idea to separate them into ziplock bags. That way, if anything spills or breaks, the other items will still be safe and usable.
- Electrolyte drink mix packets
- Instant iced coffee
- Tea packets
Other Useful Items
While this list focuses on warm-weather essentials, feel free to add your own thoughtful touches. Snacks, puzzle books, letters, and drawings from children are always appreciated.
- Popsicles
- Cooling gel packs (Non-liquid and safe for shipping)
- Anti-chafing supplies
- Frisbees/balls

Including seasonal items in your care package is a powerful reminder to deployed Service Members that they’re remembered and supported—no matter how high the temperature or how far from home they may be.
