Celebrating Angels for National Volunteer Week
May 9, 2024
National Volunteer Week is a time for our team to show our deep appreciation for all of the volunteers (aka Angels) who help us fulfill our vision:
May No Soldier Go Unloved | May No Soldier Walk Alone | May No Soldier Be Forgotten
Even After They Come Home.™
Volunteers are the unsung heroes of communities, embodying the spirit of selflessness and compassion. Soldiers’ Angels is fortunate to have a network of volunteers – thousands of them – who support various programs, campaigns, and initiatives throughout the year. Their impact resonates far beyond the hours they spend contributing, igniting a ripple effect of goodwill. At Soldiers’ Angels, volunteers do everything from “adopting a Service Member” and sending care packages to writing cards and letters to boots-on-the-ground support like Veteran patient visits or volunteering at our Military & Veteran Food Distributions.
Beyond the tangible benefits they bring, volunteers serve as catalysts for social change. By offering their time and skills, they demonstrate that positive change is within reach. Beyond supporting the Military community, Soldiers’ Angels volunteers cultivate a sense of belonging and unity amongst each other, creating space for like-minded individuals to come together to serve. Bonds form and friendships blossom within our volunteer community—so much so that they, at times, offer support to each other.
What else can we say – we love our volunteers!
Each year, we find special ways to honor our Angel volunteers across the country. Here are just some of the events we held this year.
Atlanta, Georgia
As part of Volunteer Recognition Week, Soldiers’ Angels Atlanta teamed up with the Center for Development & Civic Engagement (CDCE) to spotlight the contributions of a number of our amazing volunteers. The event also included Soldiers’ Angels – Atlanta being recognized for its support of the Atlanta VA Hospital.
Camp Pendelton
At Camp Pendleton, the 11th Battalion US Army Reserves Career Group was conducting a 3-day qualification event for soldiers to attempt to receive the German Armed Forces Badge. Soldiers’ Angels volunteers hosted lunch for the soldiers during the event. When the event was over, the 11th Battalion surprised the Soldiers’ Angels volunteers with this great certificate and award for their support!
Orlando, Florida
Our team in Orlando held a pizza party and gave out appreciation gifts to volunteers after our Military & Veteran Food Distribution.
The Orlando team also held a “Brush of Thanks” party with volunteers at the VA Hospital, hosted by the VA CDCE office, where we let loose and had fun painting together.
Virtual Angels
We had a few surprises in store to show our appreciation for Angels who serve virtually as well! We sent letters of appreciation, as well as special pins to mark years of service. Here’s what a couple of our volunteers had to say.
“It has been a pleasure volunteering for Soldiers’ Angels. I started this journey in a dark place in my life. My therapist told me about Soldiers’ Angels, I was weary at first, but as I kept adopting, I knew this was 100% for me! These past 3 years have helped me grow not only with Soldiers’ Angels but as a person. With that, I say a huge THANK YOU to everyone and I’m looking forward to many more years!” – Angel Anne
“One year of being a volunteer with Soldier’s Angels. Truly blessed to be part of this organization.” – Angel Emily
Volunteers keep this organization running, ensuring our support for Service Members, Veterans, and their families reaches far and wide. Want to join us and show your appreciation for our heroes? Learn more and register here.
