What is the Adopt-A-Family Program?
Affording holiday gifts for your family can be hard. Doing so on deployment or on a Military/Veteran family budget is even harder. So once again, Soldiers’ Angels is making this holiday season a little easier for our Military and Veteran families through the Adopt-A-Family (AAF) program.
The Soldiers’ Angels Holiday Adopt-A-Family program helps businesses, organizations, and individuals support qualified Military and Veteran families who could use some help providing the holiday celebration their families deserve. Together, we are helping America show its gratitude for the sacrifices our Service Members, Veterans, and their families are making or have made to defend our great nation.
How it Works
Military and Veteran families in need of additional support this holiday season can visit the Adopt-A-Family website between September 02 – December 1, 2024 or until program is full to learn more and apply.
Volunteers interested in supporting families can register to adopt a family and then provide gifts for the children and a grocery gift card for the family to put towards their holiday meal. Businesses and individuals interested in volunteering can register starting September 30, 2024. Click here for more information on volunteering.
The following families are eligible to receive support from Soldiers’ Angels Adopt-A-Family:
- E1-E6 Active Duty Service Members
- E1-E6 National Guard/Reserves who will be activated through December 25, 2024
- E1-E6 Deployed Service Members who are currently registered with Soldiers’ Angels for Deployed Support and will be deployed through December 25, 2024
- Honorably discharged post-9/11 wounded, ill, or injured Veterans with a 10% or more VA disability rating
- HUD/VASH Veteran families
To be eligible, all Military or Veteran families must be legal guardians to one or more children (biological, legally adopted, or step-child), aged 18 and under, living in the home, and not yet graduated from high school.
Once applied, families are placed on a priority placement list. Families who have not participated in Adopt-A-Family in the past and those with the greatest need receive priority.
2023 Impact
Last year, our sponsoring Angels came out in full force to show their gratitude for our Nation’s Service Members, Veterans, and their families. With the help of businesses, organizations, and individuals across the country, Soldiers’ Angels Adopt-A-Family was able to reach more families than ever before.
- 1,898 Military and Veteran families supported
- 7,684 Children Supported
- 7,265 Christmas or holiday gifts sent to families
- $704,556 in gifts provide to supported families
2024 Program Goals
We need your help to spread the word to eligible Military and Veteran families!
In 2023, nearly 1,900 families were supported through the Adopt-A-Family program. However, additional sponsors were lined up to adopt even more families. Soldiers’ Angels has also expanded support for Adopt-A-Family to include Active Duty, Guard, and Reserve families who could use the support!
The 2024 goal is to increase the number of families supported by at least 10%! Please help us reach 2,100 or more families and get them the support they deserve. Please see the outreach materials in the next block that will help you spread the word about this worthwhile campaign.
