Our Immediate Response to Hurricane Helene

Soldiers’ Angels is working with the Augusta VA and Asheville VA to deliver critical aid. We’ve already sent hygiene kits and box lunches to both facilities, ensuring that displaced Veterans receive immediate relief. Additionally, we’ve shipped requested essential items to Asheville, one of the hardest-hit communities in the storm’s path, including:

These items are critical for Veterans who were homeless before the storms and are now even more vulnerable in the aftermath. In Asheville alone, over 150 Veterans are currently in temporary shelters.

Veterans in Urgent Need at Asheville VA

Many of the Veterans being assisted by the Asheville VA were already living in unstable conditions before Hurricane Helene. Currently, the Asheville VA is providing aid to:

• 150 Veterans in temporary shelters—many of whom were homeless before the storm
• 300 homebound Veterans who are receiving critical assistance
• 100 homebound Mental Health patients who need continued care
• 200 inpatients in the hospital who also require support

For homeless Veterans who had little to begin with, the impact of Hurricane Helene has left them with nothing. Now, more than ever, they need our help to regain stability.
