Kids Helping Heroes: Turning Halloween Candy into Care
October 14, 2025
On Halloween night, kids race from doorstep to doorstep, costumes glowing under porch lights and candy buckets filling fast. However, after the fun, many families find themselves with more sweets than they know what to do with. That’s where Soldiers’ Angels Treats for Troops steps in, turning extra candy into meaningful care for those who serve.
Collecting Candy with Purpose
Treats for Troops is our nationwide Halloween candy drive. Local businesses, schools, churches, gyms, and even dental offices volunteer as collection sites. Families drop off leftover candy, sometimes earning a small thank-you prize in return.
Each Treats for Troops collection site is powered by a dedicated volunteer who has registered with Soldiers’ Angels and chosen how they’d like to share the sweetness. Some locations collect candy to deliver directly to local VA hospitals or military units. Others ship their donations to one of our Soldiers’ Angels offices around the country, helping us spread joy to even more Service Members and Veterans. And some go the extra mile—literally—by sending candy overseas to deployed troops who could use a taste of home.

Little Hands, Big Hearts
For kids, this is more than just giving away candy. It’s an opportunity to be part of something bigger. They see firsthand that generosity doesn’t require anything fancy; it only requires a willingness to share.

For deployed Service Members, that candy is a touch of home. For Veterans, it’s a reminder that people across the country are thinking of them. These small gestures become powerful reminders that heroes are not forgotten.
Each time a child drops a candy into a donation box, they become a link in a chain of gratitude reaching far beyond their hometown.
