Celebrating the Heart of Our Mission This National Volunteer Month

April is National Volunteer Month, a time to recognize the incredible individuals who give their time, creativity, and heart to support others. However, at Soldiers’ Angels, we are continually inspired by the compassion and dedication of our Angel Volunteers.

They are the heart of our mission. Each act of kindness, whether it’s writing a letter, sewing a handmade item, or showing up consistently, makes a difference.  As a result, these actions create a meaningful impact for Service Members, Veterans, and their families.

Over the past several months, we’ve had the honor of getting to know some of these incredible individuals through our volunteer spotlights. So far, we’ve shared 18 stories through our Volunteer Newsletter. Together, these stories offer a glimpse into the many ways our volunteers serve and also showcase personal connections that inspire them to give back. From crafters who pour love into every stitch, to letter writers who never miss a week, to volunteers who serve in honor of a loved one, each story reminds us that there is no single way to make a difference. Every Angel brings something unique, and together, those efforts create a powerful community of support.

Meet a Few of Our Angels

Sunshine

Brings creativity and heart to her volunteer work, writing letters filled with encouragement and even sharing messages from her students to remind Service Members they are appreciated. Through thoughtful traditions like crocheting blankets to honor Veterans, she turns small acts of kindness into lasting reminders of gratitude and care.

Larisa

Uses her love of sewing to create handmade blankets and scarves, stitching care and comfort into every piece she sends. Her work is more than a gift; it’s a reminder that someone took the time to create something just for them.

Clairice

A Veteran, she understands the power of a simple letter and now writes to ensure no Service Member feels alone. Drawing from personal experience, they share encouragement and compassion, turning small acts of kindness into meaningful moments of connection.

These stories are just a small glimpse into the heart behind our mission. There are so many more Angels quietly making an impact every day, showing up, giving back, and reminding others that they are seen and appreciated.

Want to See More?

If you’d like to read volunteer spotlights or connect with others who love giving back, register to become a volunteer with Soldiers’ Angels. Once you’re an approved Angel, you’ll be able to join our Volunteer Facebook Group. A space where volunteers share experiences, ideas, and encouragement. We also feature even more spotlights and stories throughout the year.

Thank You, Angels!

This National Volunteer Month, we want you to know that what you do truly matters.

It matters to the Service Member opening a letter at the end of a long day.
To the Veteran who feels remembered.
And even to the families who feel supported.

Thank you for your time, your compassion, and your unwavering commitment to serving others. Because of you, our mission continues, and no Service Member, Veteran, or family member has to feel alone.
