Soldiers’ Angels Dallas: Celebrating One Year of Support

On Friday, September 13, the Soldiers’ Angels Dallas team marked a significant milestone—their first anniversary of the Military and Veteran Food Distribution event. Over the past year, this event has become a critical source of support for Veterans in the Dallas area, providing food assistance to those who have served our country.

A Year of Impact

Soldiers' Angels Dallas celebrates 1 year of support!

In just one year, the Dallas Soldiers’ Angels team, in partnership with volunteers and sponsors, has distributed over 160,000 lbs. of food to more than 1,700 Veterans. These monthly events have helped ensure that Veterans receive essential groceries, totaling more than 70 lbs. of food per family at each distribution. For many Veterans, this support has been crucial in combating food insecurity, a growing issue due to rising costs and inflation.

The Anniversary Celebration: A Community United

The first anniversary event was a true testament to the community’s commitment to supporting Veterans. Nearly 50 volunteers showed up to assist, including employees from Energy Transfer, the event’s generous sponsor. They were joined by volunteers from the AT&T Veteran Employee Resource Group, Southwest Airlines, and the Children’s Hospital Veteran Employee Resource Group. Together, they worked to make sure every registered Veteran was well taken care of.

From setting up the distribution site to loading food into cars, volunteers played a vital role in ensuring the success of the event. Their teamwork and dedication made a real difference, and it was inspiring to see so many individuals come together to support Veterans.

A Year in Review: Highlighting the Impact

Throughout the past year, the Dallas team has worked tirelessly to make the Military and Veteran Food Distribution event a success. Here are some key highlights:

  • 160,000+ lbs. of food distributed to Veterans in need.
  • Over 1,700 Veterans served throughout the year.
  • Monthly distributions providing more than 70 lbs. of food per family, including fresh produce, canned goods, and non-perishable items.

These numbers speak to the immense need for this program and the incredible impact it has had on the Dallas Veteran community.

Looking Forward: Continuing the Mission

As we celebrate this one-year milestone, the Soldiers’ Angels Dallas team remains committed to supporting Veterans in the community. With the help of dedicated volunteers and sponsors like Energy Transfer, they will continue to provide essential food assistance to Veterans who need it most.

But the work doesn’t stop here. With rising costs of food and other essentials, food insecurity remains a significant issue for many Veterans. Soldiers’ Angels is always looking for more volunteers and support to help expand this vital program. If you’re in the Dallas area, consider joining us at a future food distribution event and make a difference in the lives of Veterans.
