A huge thank you to everyone who has participated in the first ever Soldiers' Angels Warm Feet for Warriors campaign! In just two short months, we have: reached our initial goal of 1,000 pairs; raised our goal to 2,500 pairs; and, as of this week-- surpassed our second goal with 2,611 pairs! And guess what? There are still two weeks left until the official 'end' of the campaign! We know there are many of you that are still collecting socks-- please do! We would love to completely blow the 2017 goal out of the water and make our goal for 2018 even higher. There's still time to help us with this campaign, click here for full details on Soldiers' Angels Warm Feet for Warriors.

April is National Card and Letter Writing Month, which is the perfect time for us to highlight and celebrate our amazing Cards Plus Team and Letter Writing Team! When Soldiers' Angels was founded in 2003, the main objective was to send care packages to the deployed-- but thanks to a fantastic suggestion by Angel Sara, the Letter Writing Team was started so our volunteers can reach even more deployed heroes and sheroes. After sending one of the very first letters from the Soldiers' Angels Letter Writing Team, Angel Sara received a very powerful reply from downrange. Read this touching letter here.
Our deployed service members are not the only ones that work hard to protect us-- Military Working Dogs (or MWD's) do too! There are more than 2,500 Military Working Dogs in the US Armed Forces and, at any given time, hundreds of those four-legged heroes are deployed with their handlers. Angel Lisa, a member of the Soldiers' Angels Deployed Adoptions Team, has an adopted service member that just so happens to be one of those handlers. When she sends care packages to her service member, she also includes extra special treats for this adorable pup! He is pictured with Milk Bones dog biscuits, Girl Scout Cookies, and Grab the Gold treats (the last two are, of course, for his handler!).
Esther, an Army veteran who was deployed to Afghanistan, is now 100% disabled. While she was waiting on disability, she and her young son ended up living in their car, which was eventually repossessed. They recently got into a home through the VA's HUD/VASH program and on March 16, thanks to Caliber Collision, they received a donated/repaired car as well! The car they received was the same model of car they lost, but two years newer.
Harry & David has done it again with their recent Moose Munch® Bars for the Troops campaign-- donating over 29,000 Moose Munch Crunch bars just from this single campaign! Soldiers' Angels has been distributing these delicious treats to veterans in VA Hospitals across the country and has shipped over 100 boxes to deployed service members around the world. Their next campaign will start in mid-May and go through July 6. More details to come.
Who doesn't love receiving packages in the mail? Deployed service members are no different! If you are interested in sending care packages, check out our Deployed Adoptions Team and our Ladies of Liberty Team.
"I would like to give a special thanks for my care package! I'm very grateful for everything I have received and I am excited to use it! Thank you to everyone that was apart of making this package!" - SGT Michelle
Soldiers' Angels partnered with Caliber Collision and Allstate to give away another car to a very deserving veteran and the four year old daughter he has custody of. Jason had been taking the bus twice a week for an hour each way to take her to pre-school and then again each weekend to drop her off with her mother. He was formerly homeless and is now in the HUD/VASH housing program. Jason was nominated by his social worker. A very deserving recipient!
Did you know that April is National Card & Letter Writing Month? The U.S. Postal Service originally started the celebration as a weeklong event, but in 2001 decided to expand the celebration to the entire month of April. Their hope is to improve writing skills and literacy, as well as to preserve the tradition of writing, sending and receiving letters, postcards and greeting cards. What does this mean at Soldiers' Angels? It means that now is a great time to commit to writing by joining the Soldiers' Angels Letter Writing Team or the Soldiers' Angels Cards Plus Team! These teams are a great way to continue the tradition of writing and also bring a smile to the face of a service member or veteran!
Caregivers of our military have a special place in our hearts. Just like the wounded warriors they care for, they selflessly serve this country by caring for our military heroes. It is not easy being a caregiver. Caregivers are always “on call” through thick and through thin providing emotional and physical support. This is why we started the Women of Valor Program which provides support to female caregivers of Post 9-11 wounded, ill and injured service members. Learn more about the Soldiers' Angels Women of Valor Team here.
Our brave Angel volunteers in Detroit bundled up in the cold weather and came out to serve Metro Detroit Veterans at the March Veteran Mobile Food Distribution. The event served over 200 low-income, at-risk, and homeless veterans with food assistance, including fresh fruits and vegetables. View all of the photos from the Soldiers' Angels Veteran Mobile Food Distribution here.
For many of us, buying the annual box or two of Girl Scout Cookies has become a part of our yearly traditions. Our deployed service members feel the same way! Indulging in a tasty box of their favorite flavor of Girl Scout Cookie reminds them of home. Thanks to Girl Scouts across the country, we have 160+ pallets of donated cookies waiting to be shipped to deployed troops. But, we need your help to cover the shipping costs and other costs associated with getting the cookies across the world. Can you help us get a sweet taste of home to our heroes and sheroes?
The United States has millions of brave veterans who have served the country and sacrificed a lot for our freedoms. Some of those veterans are human and some are Canine! That’s right, we have K9 Veterans as well and March 13th of every year is a day to honor them. Read more about some of our countries most recognized K9 Veterans.
