Three Generations Volunteering to Support Veterans
February 27, 2025
We are thrilled to shine a light on an extraordinary family that represents three generations of dedicated volunteerism: Vince Mazz, his daughter Emily Cellar, and his granddaughter Annie Cellar. The trio of family members volunteers at our Denver Military & Veteran Food Distribution (MVFD).

Vince Mazz is our Denver MVFD Co-Coordinator and a Veteran himself. He helps with all the planning and coordination that goes into the food distribution events and ensures registration runs as smoothly as possible. During the events, you’ll find him at Table 5, the last stop before exiting the event!
Vince found out about Soldiers’ Angels through his work at Lockheed Martin.
“A group of us volunteered in 2017. I’ve continued off-and-on until retirement. Now, it is almost monthly.”
Annie Cellar, Vince’s granddaughter, has been lending a hand for the past four years. Even while balancing college life at Texas Christian University, Annie makes it a priority to volunteer when she’s home on break. Her commitment started during high school, and her dedication to giving back has only grown over time.

“My granddaughter was gathering service hours as a ninth grader in high school (2018). Once the service hours were completed, Annie continued volunteering at the distribution when school and work schedules permitted. She last attended during the school break last summer when her mom joined us,” says Vince
Emily Cellar, Vince’s daughter, joins whenever she can amidst her busy schedule as VP of IT. Despite traveling all over for her job, Emily makes it a point to spread the word about Soldiers’ Angels and always brings her warm smile and positivity to the food distributions she attends. Her energy is contagious, and her passion for helping veterans and their families shines through every time she volunteers.

“My daughter was interested due to the stories we told about our 4-hour adventures at the distribution. Emily volunteers as her employment schedule permits,” says Vince.
Whether it’s Vince working behind the scenes, Emily spreading positivity at events, or Annie’s long-standing dedication, their contributions make a huge difference to the Veterans and Military families we serve. Together, they embody the true spirit of volunteerism, and we are so grateful for their continued support.
“Volunteering with family is a service type bonding. We listen to instructions well and fill in where needed once our original task is completed. The interface between the volunteers and Veterans helps build trust among all generations and appreciation for the past and current sacrifices for those who have served this nation and those who volunteer. Volunteering side by side gives us memories we can share and pass onto fellow family members and to friends and coworkers,” says Vince.

We love seeing families volunteering together and the spirit of service that flows across generations! It’s heartwarming to witness students like Annie taking an active role in giving back alongside their parents and grandparents. We encourage all families to join us in this rewarding experience—there’s nothing quite like the joy of serving together!
