National Volunteer Month: Celebrating Our Soldiers’ Angels Volunteers
April 15, 2025
April is National Volunteer Month, a time designated to celebrate the incredible contributions of volunteers across the nation.

Here at Soldiers’ Angels, we are excited to shine a spotlight on our own “Angels” – the extraordinary volunteers who work tirelessly in support of our mission.
In 2024 alone, Soldiers’ Angels provided vital support to over 1.7 million Service Members and Veterans worldwide! This extraordinary achievement would not have been possible without our dedicated Angels, who clocked 225,966 volunteer hours last year.
“Our volunteers are the heartbeat of our organization,” said Soldiers’ Angels CEO and President Amy Palmer. “I am continually amazed at their efforts. They go out of their way for our Military community, and it’s truly awe-inspiring.”
A Salute to Our Volunteers
This National Volunteer Month, we want to express our deep gratitude to every single Soldiers’ Angels volunteer. Your time, talents, and compassion make a world of difference to Service Members, Veterans, and their families around the globe.

From crafting heartfelt, hand-made cards to baking delicious treats for care packages, you put love into every detail. You show up, rain or shine, to support food distributions for Veterans in need. With compassion and dedication, you visit Veterans at VA medical facilities, offering kindness and connection when it’s needed most.
Every act of kindness you share strengthens our Military community and brings comfort and aid to those who serve.
To all our volunteers – we salute you! Your dedication shows the incredible impact that selfless giving can achieve. You are the heart and soul of change, and your efforts inspire us every single day. Thank you for being an Angel volunteer!
The Far-Reaching Impact of Soldiers’ Angels Volunteers
National Volunteer Month is the perfect time to sing praises to our volunteers and reflect on the incredible difference they make every day.
For example, Soldiers’ Angels holds the distinction of being the largest food provider exclusively for Veterans in the country. Every month, volunteers face inclement weather to assist with our monthly Military Veteran Food Distribution events. Over the course of 2024, they delivered an astounding 1.4 million pounds of food to those in need.
Here are a few more mind-blowing stats from 2024 that showcase the outstanding contributions of our volunteers:
- Our volunteers mailed 157,944 letters and cards to Service Members, Veterans, and caregivers to express their gratitude, care, and concern.
- They also packed and shipped 27,938 care packages to deployed Service Members around the globe.
- In honor of Veterans Day, 799 volunteers supported 84 VA medical facilities, honoring 17,101 Veterans during our annual Home of the Brave Campaign.
This level of impact is made possible only through the charitable service, generosity, and hard work of our Angel volunteers.
Do You Want to Join the Ranks as an Angel Volunteer?
Volunteering for Soldiers’ Angels is a powerful way to give back to the Military-connected community. It is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who have sacrificed so much for our country.
We offer in-person and virtual volunteer opportunities.
In-Person Volunteer Opportunities
For those who enjoy making connections and providing hands-on support, Soldiers’ Angels offers a variety of in-person volunteer opportunities.

Here are just a few ways you can get involved:
- Volunteer at your local VA medical center to conduct patient visits.
- Serve meals to Veterans at luncheons and dinners.
- Assist at a Military Veteran Food Distribution in your city, if available.
- Support community activities such as Stand Downs, deployment events, baby showers, and other Military-focused events in your area.
Volunteering in person allows you to see firsthand the profound impact your efforts have on the Military community. Plus, it is an opportunity to forge meaningful connections with other volunteers.
Virtual Volunteer Opportunities
Don’t have the ability to volunteer in person? No problem! Many of our Angels enjoy the flexibility of volunteering virtually because it allows them to support our mission from the comfort of home.
Here are some great virtual volunteer opportunities:

- Adopt-a-Service Member: Send care packages, letters, cards, or handmade crafts to Service Members throughout their deployments.
- Participate in special campaigns like Warm Feet for Warriors, sending socks to deployed troops.
- Bake and ship homemade treats to brighten the day of a deployed Service Member.
- Create quilts or no-sew blankets for hospitalized or homeless Veterans.
- Partner with deployed Chaplains to send supplies and resources tailored to their needs.
Virtual volunteering is a wonderful way to make a positive impact, even with a busy schedule.
