Memorial Day looks much different this year than it has in the past: There are going to be very few parades, and the patriotic fanfare we’re used to (like Fleet Week) looks different. It matters little, as those things are all superficial: After all, Memorial Day is about honoring those who’ve made the ultimate sacrifice for the rest of us to be able to, eventually, enjoy fireworks, parades and parties in the streets. At its core, it’s a somber day of remembrance.
