How Your Company Can Support Veterans in Just One Volunteer Event
May 29, 2026
When companies think about corporate volunteer opportunities, many imagine large fundraising campaigns or complicated service projects. But sometimes the most meaningful acts of support are also the simplest.
A toothbrush. A bottle of shampoo. A meal.
For Veterans experiencing hardship, these everyday essentials can make a tremendous difference. Through Soldiers’ Angels, companies help provide support by sponsoring and hosting packing events that meet basic but necessary needs.
These projects are easy to coordinate, highly engaging for employees, and directly support Veterans in need.
As part of our Corporate Engagement Series, this article explores how businesses can create meaningful volunteer experiences through two of Soldiers’ Angels’ most practical and appreciated programs.
Assembling Hygiene Kits
Veterans receiving care at VA hospitals or those experiencing homelessness often face gaps in access to basic necessities. Hygiene items like deodorant, toothpaste, soap, and shampoo may seem small, but they are essential to maintaining dignity, comfort, and health.
Hygiene Kit events are one of the easiest turn-key corporate volunteer opportunities we offer.

Whether your company is large or small, Soldiers’ Angels can help create a seamless turn-key volunteer event benefiting our Veteran aid programs. Through a donation in support of our mission, Soldiers’ Angels coordinates the materials and handles shipping directly to your event or company location, making participation simple and impactful.
Once the supplies arrive, your employees get to work assembling the kits. After the event, your company ships the completed bags back to Soldiers’ Angels, where they are distributed to Veterans through VA hospitals and Stand Down events.
It’s a simple project with a meaningful impact, giving Veterans in need access to everyday essentials many of us take for granted.

Feeding Veterans Through Box Lunch Programs
Another impactful way companies can support Soldiers’ Angels is through Box Lunches for at-risk Veterans.
Soldiers’ Angels provides shelf-stable box lunches to Veterans through VA Hospitals and Stand Down events throughout the year. Many of these lunches are distributed directly by VA Caseworkers, who interact daily with Veterans visiting the VA for healthcare, housing assistance, benefits support, and other services. For Veterans who may not know where their next meal is coming from, these lunches provide a nutritious and dependable source of food while they are at the VA.

The lunches are packed with non-perishable but nutritious items, making them easy to distribute, transport, and ship when needed.

Bringing Employees Together Around Purpose
One of the reasons these projects resonate so strongly with businesses is that they create visible, hands-on impact. Employees are actively participating in a service project that directly benefits Veterans and Service Members.

These corporate volunteer opportunities also:
- Strengthening company culture through meaningful and memorable service experiences
- Encourage teamwork and collaboration
- Reinforce company values
- Create meaningful community engagement
- Provide accessible volunteer experiences for all skill levels
Whether employees are assembling hygiene kits during a lunch break or packing box lunches during a company-wide volunteer day, the shared experience creates stronger workplace connections while serving others.
Soldiers’ Angels Makes Corporate Engagement Easy
Soldiers’ Angels works closely with businesses to simplify the volunteer process from start to finish.
Organizations receive guidance on:
- Event planning
- Packing instructions
- Shipping and distribution logistics
- Ways to scale participation across teams or offices
This support allows companies to focus on engaging employees and creating a meaningful experience while Soldiers’ Angels ensures the supplies and meals reach the Veterans and Service Members who need them most.
