SAN ANTONIO – A local nonprofit is attempting to bring cheer to deployed service members and veterans, one holiday stocking at a time.

Soldiers’ Angels volunteers and staff have been putting holiday stockings together.

This year’s goal is 40,000 stockings and so far, they have collected about 33,000.

“We are going to be supporting deployed service members, deployed chaplains who will go on the fields and pass them out. Veterans who were hospitalized over the holidays and this year even guard and reservists that are activated for our border,” Amy Palmer, the president and CEO of Soldiers’ Angels said.

People that want to get involved can collect items from the nonprofits suggested items, and stuff them into a holiday stocking and send them to the nonprofit.
