,This Veterans Day, a San Antonio based nonprofit is trying to get the word out about a festive way to show appreciation for veterans and active military.
Soldier’s Angels is already accepting pledges for its ‘Holiday Stockings for Heroes’ drive, and this year the nonprofit has a big collection goal: 35,000.
“We have packed almost 7,000 already that will be going to deployed service members,” says Amy Palmer, President and CEO of Soldier’s Angels. “But we’ll also be supporting activated guard and reservists who are deployed stateside for the holidays … and veterans that will be hospitalized over the holidays. We’ll have a lot of people we’ll be supporting with these stockings.” Palmer says you can pledge as many stockings as you want, from 1 to 500.
