Veterans Helping Veterans: Soldiers’ Angels Staff Spotlight
May 30, 2026
Meet the Leader: Dr. Christopher Levack, PhD

At Soldiers’ Angels, serving Veterans, Service Members, and military families is more than a mission — it is reflection of the people who lead our programs every day. Dr. Christopher Levack, Director of Field Operations, embodies that commitment through both his military experience and his passion for continuing to serve after retirement. From overseeing food distributions and Veteran support programs nationwide to working directly with volunteers and local communities, Chris helps ensure Soldiers’ Angels continues making a meaningful impact for those who have served. His journey, which began with receiving a Soldiers’ Angels care package while deployed in 2004, is a powerful reminder of how compassion and service come full circle within the military community.
“I wish more people and organizations knew about the impact we create within the Veteran Community. We actually do what we say we are going to do. Our actions are louder than words” said Chris in regards to the impact we make in the community.
What drew you to working here at Soldiers’ Angels?

After retiring from the military in 2021, Chris knew he still wanted to serve the Veteran community in a meaningful way. Having spent years serving alongside his brothers and sisters in uniform, he was drawn to work that continued that same sense of connection, purpose, and care for others.
“After retiring in 2021, you get used to serving your country. You get used to serving with your bothers and sisters in arms, and I knew I wanted to continue doing that when I got out.” explained, Chris.
What made joining Soldiers’ Angels especially meaningful was his personal connection to the organization — during a deployment in 2004, he unexpectedly received a care package from Soldiers’ Angels, an act of kindness that stayed with him throughout his military career. Years later, when the opportunity arose to join the organization, Chris saw it as a chance to give back to the same community that once supported him.
A Day as the Director of Field Operations
As Director of Field Operations at Soldiers’ Angels, no two days look exactly the same for Chris. Overseeing 13 sites across the country means his day is filled with meetings, supporting local leaders, coordinating programs, and helping solve challenges as they arise.

From food distributions and food pantries to patient visits, stand downs, and volunteer support, Chris works closely with teams nationwide to ensure Veterans and military families receive the services they need. Whether he is helping a smaller volunteer site with day-to-day operations or checking in with leaders across the country, his focus remains the same: making sure every program runs effectively so Soldiers’ Angels can continue serving communities nationwide.
A Story That Stuck
One moment that has stayed with Chris since joining Soldiers’ Angels was a late-night phone call from a Vietnam Veteran struggling with food insecurity and insomnia. The call came in around 2 a.m., and instead of letting it go to voicemail, Chris answered.
What followed was a three-hour conversation between two combat medics from different generations, sharing stories of service and life after the military. The veteran spoke openly about the challenges he faced after losing family members during COVID and how much he needed support. Chris was able to help connect him with Soldiers’ Angels food assistance programs, and later received a message from the Veteran after attending his first food distribution event, describing it as one of the best things that had happened to him.
For Chris, moments like that are what make the work so meaningful — seeing firsthand how immediate support and human connection can change someone’s life.
“We’re solving problems that a lot of our Veterans face, and it’s making an immediate impact.”
Why volunteers are needed
According to Chris, volunteers are at the heart of what Soldiers’ Angels is able to accomplish nationwide. As the organization continues to grow, so does the need for dedicated volunteers to support food distributions, food pantries, patient visits, and local program coordination across multiple sites.
Chris believes that every new volunteer expands Soldiers’ Angels’ ability to reach and serve more Veterans and military families in need. Whether someone can give a few hours at an event or take on a larger leadership role within a local program, he emphasizes that there is always an opportunity to make a meaningful impact. For those looking for a way to support Veterans directly, Chris says Soldiers’ Angels provides a chance to not only help others but to witness firsthand the difference that service can make in someone’s life.
“I would say be prepared to have fun, be prepared to put in some work, because that’s what we do”… “But be prepared to go home feeling like you made an impact in someone’s life that day” says Chris to anyone considering volunteering.
What the future of Soldiers’ Angels looks like

What excites Chris most about the future of Soldiers’ Angels is the organization’s potential to continue growing and reaching even more Veterans and military families in need. As food insecurity and other challenges continue to impact the Veteran community nationwide, he believes Soldiers’ Angels is uniquely positioned to expand its programs and make an even greater impact.
Chris is especially inspired by the passion and dedication of the organization’s staff and volunteers, describing them as a team united by a genuine desire to serve others. For him, the future of Soldiers’ Angels is not just about growth in numbers, but about strengthening communities, creating lasting support systems for Veterans, and continuing to provide meaningful, direct assistance to those who have served.
Final Thoughts
Chris’s passion for serving Veterans is evident in every aspect of his work at Soldiers’ Angels. From supporting field teams across the country to personally connecting with Veterans in need, his leadership reflects the heart of the organization’s mission. His dedication, compassion, and firsthand understanding of military service continue to strengthen Soldiers’ Angels as the organization grows to meet the evolving needs of Veterans and military families nationwide.
Leaders like Chris not only help expand the organization’s impact but also remind us why the mission matters, ensuring that no Veteran feels forgotten and that every act of service creates meaningful change within our communities. Thank you, Chris, for serving our country with the same passion and professionalism you serve our organization with.
If you are looking for a meaningful way to give back and support Veterans in your own community, consider volunteering with Soldiers’ Angels and becoming part of the mission to serve those who have served.
