We’re Thankful

We have a lot to be thankful for here at Soldiers’ Angels. Donors, angels, our troops, our veterans, and our volunteers. This year for Thanksgiving we thought we would share some stories and messages of thanks from angels who support our troops and veterans throughout the year. Here’s what they had to say.

Angel Regina

"One of my first heroes was deployed in Afghanistan. We talked by email several times a week. When he came home, he told me that he would be visiting Arlington National Cemetery. Knowing I live in nearby Maryland, he asked if it would be possible to meet me. We met up at the restaurant in his hotel and had lunch together. Fast forward several years and we're still in touch through Facebook. He's stationed in Hawaii now. I have a pic but have to see if I can find it."

Angel Angela

"I am thankful for income to help my ability to support a few troops. Love shopping for them and decorating their boxes and writing letters, notes and cards."

Angel Sue

"I am thankful for Soldiers’ Angels because it provides an avenue for me to be able to show my support for our military."

Angel Frances

"I have received a thank you card from a mom thru Operation Top Knot and also I have a very good friendship going with my caregiver from women of valor I am very thankful for Soldiers’ Angels for giving me the opportunity to make a difference in someone else's life but it has made a big difference in mine my heart is full."

Angel Raven

"I got a reply back from one of my Letter Writing troops via email. He wanted to know if I had time to continue writing him regularly. So I have been. Tonight he messaged me and said 'Thank God for people like you and your organization.' This is why I am a Soldiers' Angel. They need to know they are not forgotten."

From CEO Amy Palmer

"Thanksgiving is full of family traditions. For my family, our favorite tradition is to come together and share what we are most grateful for. Personally, I am eager to tell everyone how grateful I am for you.

This year in particular, our donors, supporters, and Angels have come together with an incredible abundance of love, kindness, and giving. We have weathered some incredibly difficult times, but the grace and compassion displayed by all of you has shone through during even the darkest moments.

With that in mind, I wanted to take this opportunity to personally thank you for coming together in those difficult times and shining light on complete strangers who may have otherwise suffered alone in the dark.

Thank you for the extraordinary outpouring of support for military and veteran families impacted by the devastation of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.

Thank you for coming together after the tragic USS Fitzgerald collision and supporting crew members with unexpected care packages.

Thank you for supporting service member Kaylan's mission to provide supplies for a school in Afghanistan and, in turn, empowering hundreds of young Afghani girls with knowledge and education.

Most of all, thank you for your spirit. Your grace did not only shine through on these large collective initiatives, but also through small, everyday acts of kindness."
