This year the Hops for Heroes project celebrated its 7th year of brewing beer to support our military. Breweries from across the country participated by brewing a unique recipe called Homefront IPA. The beer is released on Memorial Day weekend and 100% of the proceeds from the sale of Homefront IPA benefit Soldiers' Angels to help us continue our vision of providing aid and comfort to service members, wounded heroes, military families, and veterans of all eras. Soldiers' Angels is now accepting applications from breweries wishing to participate in the 2019 Hops for Heroes program. In order to prevent overlap in distribution, only one brewery per market will be selected to participate. So... if you have a favorite brewery in your area-- help us spread the word about how they can brew to support our military! Learn more here.
Let's come together this holiday season and show our deployed service members and veterans how much we appreciate them! Soldiers' Angels Holiday Community Partner Program works specifically during the holiday season to provide cards, letters, and stuffed stockings for our troops and veterans. As combat deployments have drawn down many charities, including Soldiers' Angels, have discontinued the acceptance of holiday cards and letters to the troops- the volume of cards and letters exceeded our distribution abilities. While most charities will not, Soldiers' Angels will continue to accept your holiday cards and letters from our Holiday Community Partner members only! Each card and/or letter must be placed into a stocking filled with goodies for our troops and veterans. Soldiers' Angels will deliver your stockings to a deployed service member or veteran patient. Registration for this unique holiday program is now open. Learn more or register to pledge stockings here.
Soldiers’ Angels was recently honored to receive a donation of $207,000 from Cetera Financial Group®during their Connect18 National Advisor Conference. As a part of the event, Cetera’s philanthropic wing, Caring Cetera, highlighted Soldiers’ Angels. Attendees had the opportunity to show their support of Soldiers’ Angels by writing letters to troops, donating goods for care packages, and making financial contributions. Cetera Financial Group pledged to match donations raised by Connect18 attendees, Cetera-affiliated advisors, and home office staff up to $100,000, resulting in a total donation of $207,000. This donation marks the largest single-source monetary donation to Soldiers’ Angels in recent history.

We are excited to announce that our Adopt-A-Family Program is officially open for 2018 registration! Through this unique program, sponsors can ‘adopt’ a qualified military or veteran family for the holiday season. The sponsor will then provide gifts for the children as well as a grocery gift card for the family to put towards their holiday dinner and trimmings. The program is currently open for military and veteran families to register for support. Registration for those interested in supporting military/veteran families will be opening in the coming weeks. For full details on the program and how to register, click here.
Thanks to all of the incredible support we received from businesses, groups, and individuals across the country, we met our goal of collecting 1,000 blankets for deployed service members and veteran patients in VA Hospitals! It was very close... but thanks to a last-minute push for help to meet our goal, we received 1,002 blankets. The blankets will be shipped to deployed service members and personally delivered to veteran patients staying in VA Hospitals. Although our official blanket drive is over, please don't hesitate to send us blankets throughout the year. With a presence in more than 35 VA Hospitals across the country, blankets are one of the best comfort items we can provide to veterans to bring them warmth and comfort during their hospital stay!
It's easy to take hygiene items for granted. If you run out of toothpaste, just run to a store and refill your supply. For veteran patients staying in VA Hospitals and homeless veterans, that simple task is not quite so easy. Soldiers' Angels volunteers distribute thousands of prepackaged hygiene kits every year to provide veterans with essential hygiene items. Later this year, we will be packing and shipping 15,000 care items, including 5,000 hygiene kits, to commemorate the 15th Anniversary of Soldiers' Angels. In Part 3 of our special 3-part blog series, we take a look at the reason behind hygiene kits as well as how we're making it all happen. Learn more about Providing Essentials For Our Veterans Through Hygiene Kits.
It is no secret that veteran homelessness is an issue in our country. With tens of thousands of homeless veterans and more than a million veterans considered "at risk," the numbers are shocking. Through the Soldiers' Angels Hunger Relief Program, thousands of Box Lunches are distributed to VA Caseworkers who provide the food to veterans who may not otherwise know where their next meal is coming from. Later this year, we will be packing and shipping 15,000 care items, including 5,000 box lunches, to commemorate the 15th Anniversary of Soldiers' Angels. In Part 2 of our special 3-part blog series, we take a look at the process and planning of getting these Box Lunches assembled and into the hands of the veterans that need them most. Learn more about What it Takes to Supply a Box Lunch to a Veteran.
Ever wondered what it takes to ship a care package to a deployed service member? Later this year, we will be packing and shipping 15,000 care items, including 5,000 care packages, to commemorate the 15th Anniversary of Soldiers' Angels.
