Meet Trung: A High School Angel Superstar

Highlight image

Last year, Soldiers’ Angels was honored to have an amazing exchange student from Vietnam volunteer with us! During his stay in Florida, Trung Nguyen, a junior in High School, decided that free time was unnecessary (yep, a teenager said that!). So instead of wasting time, he assisted our team in Tampa with their work at the VA Hospital. Read more about Trung in our latest Angel Blog.

National Volunteer Week [Part 1]

April 19, 2018

This week is National Volunteer Week - a week for recognizing the efforts of those who give their time and talents for the greater good. Volunteers are the salt of the earth. They understand what it means to give back to the community, they are passionate about the causes they serve, and so giving of their time. We are honored to have over 12,000 registered volunteers across the country who are passionate about supporting our Nation’s troops, veterans, and military families. We wanted to personally honor and recognize each and every one of our volunteers in a blog, but, well... that would be a really long blog! Instead, we are highlighting just a few of the volunteers who logged the most volunteer hours on their particular team in 2017. Learn more about these amazing volunteers and why they love doing what they do.

Recipe for Engaging Veterans

April 13, 2018

Despite creating social opportunities for veterans at VA Hospitals and other locations across the country, it often takes more than just event planning to encourage veterans to interact. For Soldiers' Angels volunteer Allison, her recipe to engage veterans was perfected through her development of the dinner program at the Denver VA. Learn more about how she crafted her recipe and how her event turned from just a monthly dinner into "Vets Feeding Vets."

A Modern Day Shero

March is Women's History Month and, if you follow our social media accounts, we've been regularly highlighting women in our history who have paved the way for women today. But not all sheroes are in the past. Among the many brave women currently in our Armed Forces, there is one in particular we would like to shine a light on: Kaylan Harrington. We’ve talked about Kaylan before - and even helped her with one of her many projects but we haven’t shared the results of ALL of her efforts. Fur Therapy

Have you ever noticed that petting a dog or cat has a calming effect on you? This is why there are therapy dogs! While we don't do anything with therapy dogs at Soldiers' Angels, we get a lot of questions from people interested in training their dog to be a therapy dog and we just happen to have a former employee who went through the process. Mary, a retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant, and her dog Daisy became quite a hit with veteran patients at the VA!

Racing to Honor Our Military

Sometimes we are blown away by citizens who want to honor our military. Race car driver Jordan Eddleman is one of them. Jordan reached out to us to get permission to use the Soldiers’ Angels logo on his race car*. Not because he is a veteran - or because someone in his family is. Simply because he wants to honor our military in some way. Learn more about Jordan in our most recent blog.
