Veterans Affairs Support

"The Soldier of Today is the Veteran of Tomorrow"

Who we are and what we do

The Soldiers Angels Veteran Affairs Support program assists patients at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers and supports Stand Downs. This support can range from visiting patients to providing comfort items (like blankets and quilts) and clothing, to sponsoring special events like BBQs or assisting VA facilities with large-scale efforts to improve in-patients' quality of life.

Soldiers' Angels is one of the few nonprofit agencies approved to work within the VA Medical Centers. As deployments continue to draw down, our team is shifting many of our resources to support a growing veteran population. While many organizations are only focusing on Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, Soldiers’ Angels supports veterans of all generations.

In partnership with the VA Medical Centers, Soldiers' Angels provides support to Stand Downs. Stand Downs are VA events that reach out to homeless veterans, providing medical services, benefits information, clothes, food. and a hot shower. Soldiers' Angels members volunteer their time to assist the VA at various roles during the Stand Downs. Soldiers' Angels also distributes sack lunches, vet packs and/or hygiene kits prepared by our volunteers specifically for these events.

How you can help

You can become an Angel and volunteer with Soldiers' Angels at a facility near you! Please contact us for more information on getting involved in this unique opportunity. Volunteers will be required to complete a formal application and complete a background check. A screening process is in place for your safety and the safety of our veterans.

If you aren't close to a facility and still want to help, consider a cash contribution or items such as blankets, snacks, hygiene items, socks, t-shirts and sweat pants. To ship items to support our veterans, please contact us so we may direct your contribution to the best possible site.

Without your support we could not provide for the smaller niceties that make hospitalization more bearable.  Your thoughtfulness also reflects the concern and compassion that our community feels for our veterans. – William Dove, Tacoma VA Medical Center

It is the generosity and thoughtfulness of caring organizations such as yours that provide many of the supplementary items, activities and services that would not otherwise be available to our veterans. We are most grateful. - Donna Ruthwicz, Chief, Voluntary Service (Providence VA Medical Center).

Thank you for all you do!  Because of you, my dad--a Vietnam Veteran--will be proudly wearing an Army jacket for the first time in 40 years! He was not treated well when he came home in his Army Green Beret in 1968! You Angels have changed his mind!  He's proud to wear Army Green again without being made to feel unwanted!  God Bless You! - An Army Daughter
