Thank Yous and Angel Stories

Soldiers' Angels is always thrilled to hear from our heroes and those we are working so hard to support and encourage.  Most of our Team and Project pages include Thank Yous, but we've collected a few here, too.  You can read Angels' stories about their experiences adopting and supporting America's service members here.  If you have been supported by Soldiers' Angels, you can leave your own testimonial or thank you here.

Thank Yous

There we were....long crazy day, was getting a bit crazier and I walked back into the office. Sitting on my desk were two large boxes from Soldier's Angels filled with coffee, two awesome Soldiers' Angels coffee mugs, and a host of well-wishes and support from home!! I can't even begin to tell you how far that went to making the day so much better. Well maybe you can see from the smiles around the room. - Major C in Afghanistan, February 2010

We cannot even begin to express in words our gratitude towards the Angels for helping our family through this trying time in our life…You all have been instrumental in changing our lives for the better and giving us a second chance in life at peace and happiness after the storm.  I feel as though my husband finally feels the total worth of all his sacrifice for all those years.  He feels appreciated, loved, and cared for.  – wife of a wounded warrior, February 2010

I received a 2010 Soldiers' Angels calendar in the mail today and I wanted to write and say 'thank you' to such a wonderful bunch of people. I will hang this calendar with pride in my office. It will remind me daily of what I am working so hard to preserve, protect and support during my daily missions. The gold angel pin will adorn my civilian jacket for all to see when I am not in uniform and serve as a reminder not only that there are angels protecting us overseas, but angels here at home keeping them in their thoughts and prayers. - a stateside soldier, February 2010

Thank you so much for all that you do for us. Just to let you know that every letter and boxes counts enormously...there is nothing like receiving a box or a letter from someone unknown to us and understand that we are not alone in this war.  - MAJ P in Afghanistan, February 2010

I would love to thank ya’ll personally for the nice things that you do for the Wounded Warriors on Camp Pendleton...  When [my husband] told me about ya’ll coming in to feed the Marines and Sailors, I was like, “I didn't even know people like ya’ll were out there to help boost the spirits of these men and women!”  Thanks again for taking such great care of these men and women that need this from people who care about their spirits. - C. B., January 2010

I was deployed last year, and worked in a Medical Clinic in Iraq...Normally we would send [wounded] off on a helicopter, undressed and wrapped in sheets.  But with your help, we were able to toss a Soldiers' Angels kit on them, and know that when they arrived safe and were treated for their wounds, they would be able to wear some comfortable clothes and have the ability to shower--and even make a call home with the phone cards we had in the bags.  Your organization is tremendous, and every time I see your organization's icon, I take a pause for thought, and remember what that symbol meant to me and my casualties.  Thank you for continuing to support us.  It means so much to a soldier when they know not everyone has given up on us. - Melissa, Ft. Hood medic, January 2010

We have received a multitude of shipments from Soldier's Angels. The items have been perfect...Our patients have been able to dress appropriately for the climate. The knit caps with the Soldier's Angel emblem have been a real hit. So many of our injured soldiers and civilians need replacement clothing following the scissors in the Trauma Room. We can see their eyes light up when we are able to offer them clothing and toiletries for a shower... You have really done a wonderful service.  Thank you so much.   CPT Teresa Timms, deployed medical unit, January 2010

The food, hygiene products, books, banners and blankets were a great morale booster for us all…Our families would also like to send a thank you out to all of you. We have been letting them know what you have been doing for us. It has relieved some burden from their shoulders…They are all very grateful—as is the entire team—for your selfless actions. You are truly heroes to us. – MSG Holcomb, Team Renegade, January 2010

As a veteran of numerous combat deployments, one sometimes begins to wonder just how much the members of the military in harm's way are really thought of….It was such a pleasure to be presented with Christmas packages collected by Soldiers' Angels. I now have a travel mug from you (Soldiers' Angels), and I had just written home asking my wife to send one. Your efforts are appreciated far more than you can know or realize. - MAJ C.H., January 2010

My husband...is stationed in Thule AFB Greenland. He is six months into a 12-month deployment. One of your Angels sent all of the guys a case of Seattle's Best Coffee. Those boys (and girls) are in the middle of the dark season, the next time the sun comes up is March.  Coffee--good coffee--is much appreciated...  Thank you all so much for thinking of him. I do, every minute of every day. - Julia, January 2010

I just wanted to say thank you! I had signed my husband up last year.  He never got a chance to get on his email and so I intercepted his emails and met his soldier angel, Janne…and we have now become the best of friends. Just knowing someone else is there for me while my husband was deployed was great…We met up online and now we talk everyday, and call once a week…Janne ended up getting a soldier family and she has been my rock through this entire deployment. - Rebecca, December 2009

Your support has given all the families back home peace of mind that their soldiers are being very well taken care of...  Thank you for your patriotism and support to Black Knight Troop, 3-61 CAV. Sincerely, Black Knight FRG (regarding the fire at COP Keating), December 2009

If it wasn't for the lovely staff here at Soldiers' Angels and all the family members of the Armed Services, a lot of soldiers would probably not even get one letter from home. It is you guys that make America a more beautiful place to live. THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH. - Jacob, December 2009

Thank you for everything that you have done for myself and my fellow soldiers....It is refreshing to know that there are caring people in this world that still think of others. I can remember that I received a package on my birthday and it made me cry....It made me feel great to know that someone was thinking of me and it made my day and my mission a little more enjoyable. - Deployed Soldier

Simple words which cannot begin to convey my thanks [for] your organization's support over the last 12 months in Afghanistan.  The items received from Soldiers' Angels were greatly appreciated and gave my team the needed boost in morale that we received over the holiday season, when many of us were missing home.  Thanks again for not forgetting us when many others have. - LCDR Rodriguez, Navy Embedded Training Team, December 2009

Words cannot express how your thoughtfulness has touched service members' hearts.  We are grateful for your continuous support and wish you all the best for a great year ahead!  Thanks again!  MSG Conner, 4th BCT (Airborne), December 2009

...Thanks for letting me vent just a little - I have no one to say all the above to, and I am a bit blue, but my Soldiers' Angels are out there and I am so thankful that you are all there. - A commanding officer in Afghanistan, December 2009

...Thank you for an amazing group. I was hurt in Iraq two years ago from a bomb and had no clothing afterwards. Thanks to this group, I had enough to wear and [I] still wear the clothing your group sent me to this day. Thanks for everything.  Every little bit this group did is greatly appreciated. - Timothy, December 2009

I received a package about a week ago and was just filled with joy. It is amazing that we have so many people that support us during this time of war. I thank you so much for your support and appreciate all that you do!!! - SPC Ashley P., December 2009

I am stationed in Kabul, Afghanistan, and a group of friends and I just had breakfast in our cafeteria.  We had received stockings from the chaplains two nights before, and we opened them today--Christmas morning--together.  It was great to get the gifts and to know you all were thinking of us.  The cards, however, were especially meaningful.  Mine is in pencil, in a child's handwriting, addressed "Dear U.S. Solider [sic]" and thanking us for keeping you safe.  I think we all had a tear in our eyes as I read it out loud to the group.  We just wanted you to know how much it improved our holiday, knowing that you all are back home thinking of us... You are heroes.  - Elizabeth, December 2009

I want to let you know how much we, the military members and our families, appreciate all the hard works and blessings.  You all are making a difference in our lives every single day and bringing Christmas to us daily.  You truly are our Angels!  We love what we do because of what you do! - MSgt. Bob, December 2009

I just want to thank everyone involved with soldiers angels. This my 3rd deployment and each time I am amazed at the support you guys provide to us. Keep it going and God bless. - Matthew, November 2009

I can’t express how grateful I am with you and your organization.  What you did for us was a really wonderful thing.  I was overwhelmed with my situation until my Army Wounded Warrior Advocate Vina referred me to you guys.  Thank you so much for all the things you’ve done for me and my family, also to other injured or ill soldiers. We will always remember in our hearts the great things you have done for us.  - Ferdinand and Tracy, November 2009

...You’ve made the mission loads easier for us and we do not overlook the time and effort you put into each package…You’ve done more than I can say for our platoon, so thank you again.  My platoon [and I] will never forget the care and the support you’ve shown us. – Lance Corporal Baker, November 2009

I am...currently deployed to Afghanistan. I just wanted to drop a quick note and say thanks for all the things you have been doing for us. The sweatshirts you guys sent us when we were injured were the greatest things since mom's home cooking! - A.J., November 2009

It was so warm and comforting to receive coffee in our shop…In fact I am having some coffee as I write this thank you note.  Again, thank you very much for the generous donation.  It really does make a difference knowing people back home support us.  Even the little things make a big difference out here. - Cpl. Kahawai, USMC, November 2009

I received the boxes of cards a couple of days a go and I cannot even begin to tell you how extremely delighted and excited the soldiers are to have them to send home.  The selection that we have at the PX is paltry at best. Plus plus their cards don't really cover the awkward feelings or truly heartfelt emotions that (I feel) Hallmark has always been able to convey.  Once again Soldiers' Angels has come through for us in a spectacular way, and we feel truly cared for and cherished. Thank you so much. - SGT Sandra Shane, November 2009

Our unit, the 211th MP Bn here at Camp Taji, Iraq, just received a wonderful care package from your organization and I wanted to take a minute to thank all involved in the effort.  You guys are doing a wonderful job in bringing joy to the faces of soldiers who (aside from their friends and families) many forgot back home.  Keep up the great work, and again, thanks. - SGM Jack Owens, October 2009

I received some great boxes today from members of Soldier's Angels. It made me cry, I can't believe so many people care about the Soldiers. Sometimes my own family do not send me anything.  Without Soldier's Angels I do not think I would have been able to make it. - Diann, October 2009

Your organization is truly something special.  Even as I browse your website, I literally have to fight back tears of emotion because of all that you do to support the war fighter. The support you have shown to my eleven-man team has been outstanding, responsive and inspiring.  Words can never say enough. - Scott, October 2009

I am on my last year in the Army and will hit 20 next year after the deployment. But, this program will help those coming behind me and the ones that currently fall under me realize that somewhere, someone does care alot for them, and that there is an Angel out there for us all watching over us, until we all come home.  Again, I thank you so much from the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of my Soldiers I say God bless you all... SFC Lux, Iraq, October 2009

My mother and I are looking forward to help out in any way…From the bottom of my heart, I am glad that someone other than my family, is thinking of my brother and his fellow "brothers." - Ana, sister of a soldier, October 2009

All the care packages your team sends to Bagram are forwarded to the field for my guys. Even if you may not hear back, please know you are making their day go by that much easier. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything. - Rock S., Afghanistan, October 2009

I wish there were more organizations like Soldiers’ Angels in the world.  You definitely make a big difference. – MAJ John Walsh, Afghanistan, October 2009

Thank you so much for staying in touch, encouraging us with cards and letters, and providing a continual taste of home through your donations.  Your organization has truly touched the lives of every Soldier in Task Force 115 Medical and won't be forgotten. May God bless you all! – Chaplain Vaughn, October 2009

Soldier's Angels gave me my coffee mug.  For that alone, they're my heroes. - Major D.L. in a letter to a friend, Afghanistan, October 2009

I would like to thank each and every person involved with Soldiers' Angels.  My son was injured in Afghanistan.  When he arrived home a few weeks ago, he showed me all the things that he had received from Soldiers' Angels...You were there to give my son a touch from home when I couldn't.  Thank you so very much for that! - Rhonda, September 2009

Before we departed for Iraq we were all given travel bags from Angel's for soldiers.  Those travel kits have proven invaluable to many of us time and time again.  Thank you so much for your support and time. - Melissa, September 2009

I am a Military wife, my friend pointed me in this direction and I have skimmed through some of the things that you do.  It is amazing and I know many soldiers need that support…I want to say thank you for all that you are doing to show them that they are appreciated. It means a lot to them, it also means a lot to us, as "Silent Ranks," to know that we are not the only ones supporting the loves of our lives! - Tabbitha, September 2009

Thank you Soldier's Angels for all you have done for my daughter and our family over the last two years. You sent our family and my son-in-law's family to Bethesda multiple times to be with him after he was hit by an IED in Iraq. I don't think he would be alive today without the love and support we were able to give to him after he was first injured. You are truly Angels in my family's eyes. - Tony, August 2009

Hello Ms. Bader,

We just received a big awesome packet with a coffee maker, grinder, coffee, mugs, sugar, etc. Ma'am you have no idea how much we were praying for coffee and a coffee maker. We are so grateful for this care package and for the support that Soldier's Angels give us. Let me tell you a secret: we were about to cry. Thanks for all the beautiful things you do for us! - SGT G.Y., August 2009

It is hard to describe the excitement...that comes when the mail is distributed and group care packages arrive. The word spreads, near childish joyful sounds come from folks that are usually quite mature.  Thanks again for putting a smile on many faces today. – Lt Col Hasty, July 2009

I have been sitting here since about 1pm trying to find the words to say thank you. I am stunned and I still cannot believe that I am typing on a brand new laptop. Whatever and whenever you need help, I will be there. When I WIN my national title for disable shooting next year I will do so with the flag you gave me. When I shoot I do so not only for myself but for all the Angels' across the world. - John, July 2009

I want to thank every one of you all that are involved with this program. It is so awesome to not feel alone out here. If you all don’t know, you are the heart beat for me…I want to adopt all of you!!!! – SSG S.F., July 2009

...You all personify that American spirit of "oneness", regardless of geographic local of a person...Someday, when I am done with my military career I have a feeling I will join your organization and give back to the next generation of service members as you are doing now. - 1LT Terman, Afghanistan, July 2009

My family and I received assistance from Soldier's Angels when we were at the end of our rope.  It seemed like from the time that my husband was injured in Iraq that we were fighting a losing battle staying on our feet emotionally and financially.  We were not prepared for the "real world" as civilians as we thought we were...When your organization came to our rescue, we finally felt like someone cared.  So, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for myself and my family. - Shea, July 2009

I am currently in Afghanistan and you have no idea how much cards, coloring pictures, and care packages mean to us… You all bring tears of joy to my eyes to know we are truly supported! - Malinda, June 2009

Thank you for your organization's tireless support, selfless service, and patriotism…I can't tell you how much it means to us over here when we get mail and goodies.  It is such a morale boost and a wonderful feeling to know we are being thought of back home.  The compassionate support from your volunteers and organization is outstanding and demonstrates the highest standard of civilian service.  - Specialist A.M. in Iraq, June 2009

Wow, I just stumbled across your website…As a military spouse it makes me feel good knowing that there are people out there who still care. - Jennifer S., June 2009

Thank you for this great organization and the love and support we receive from the many Soldiers’ Angels and Ladies of Liberty. The boxes and letters I receive are so filled with love, support, prayers and much-needed items that are hard to obtain. I call the boxes, “my little piece of home.” The generous outpouring of love and prayers from your organization and its members make our jobs easier and more bearable.  - Master Sergeant R.C., June 2009

My Airmen are amazed and I am overwhelmed. The support has been tremendous and "over the top." You all deserve a HUGE THANK YOU! You make us smile in a place that offers little other comforts. - CMSgt Mark Schubert, June 2009

My husband was just deployed and only at his duty station for two days when he received his care package… I am not sure what came in his box, but he said that it answered some of his prayers. Knowing that there are people out there, other than family and friends, who support our troops just warms my heart. Julie, “USMC Sergeant’s Wife,” May 2009

I just arrived at a deployed location…and inherited one of you travel coffee mugs… It’s an honor to use one of your mugs, even in a semi-used condition, and a reminder that all the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen and others who are deployed that we still have the support of our nation behind us. - Major Thomas A., Air Force in Afghanistan, May 2009

Your care packages, letters, cards and little notes have been awesome. The morale in my Unit, Charlie Company 1-169th Aviation has really been lifted through your care packages of blankets, socks, personal hygiene items and various other assorted items. I just want to say AGAIN from the bottom of my heart and the top of my lungs....if I was screaming "THANK YOU!!!!” - First Sergeant Leonard R., Kosovo, May 2009

My husband was one of the many wounded in Iraq. He was…given one of your "miracle" blankets for comfort and warmth.  I want to thank you so much for every family member that has had a wounded soldier and been lucky enough for their soldier to be touched with your kindness. – “Wife of a Soldier,” May 2009

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for comforting my husband when he was wounded… As he was being evacuated, he was covered with one of your Blankets of Hope. It kept him warm and comforted at a very distressing time for him and our family.  The blanket now hangs in a place of honor and is priceless to our family. - Melody, May 2009

Thank you so much for all your support, know that it helps us do our job and it lifts our spirits to know that the people back home care about us!!! God bless and Semper Fi. – SGT J.M., May 2009

I can’t thank you enough for all that you and the other Soldier’s Angels have done for the Marines thus far.  It is very humbling to know that there are so many fine patriotic Americans that care what we are doing out here. – Master GySgt. R.E., Afghanistan, May 2009

Being over here can be stressfull, so what you are doing for me is relaxing and puts me at ease. - Sarah, in a note to her Angel, May 2009

Thanking you guys for a job well done. Your effort is highly appreciated, and it always comes [when we] think, “Is there anybody out there that appreciates what we are doing out here?” Each time we see those packages, it gives us motivation, support and appreciation that organizations like yours care for what we do. – Sailor O., May 2009

It is your support that makes life here a little more home-like and bearable, and lets us know we are not forgotten and what we are doing here is appreciated. – Lt Col Frederick Weaver, USAF in Afghanistan, May 2009

I would like to thank you for all that you have done for the hospital here on Bagram. You have made it a little bit better for us here. Thank you once again. The Cinco de Mayo food was fantastic. – TSgt O., TF Med NCOIC, May 2009

It seems as if you put so much stuff in the boxes that people were asking if I had an ottoman and rocking chair inside!! …From the men and women of the 46ERS in Iraq, thank you! – Capt Charles Richmond, May 2009

I am the Battalion Chaplain of the 1-18IN Vanguard Unit, currently deployed to Baghdad, Iraq.  I am not sure how to say what I feel.  All I know to say is, "I love you."  I can't express what it means to me and to this Unit for what you and your organization have done for us… You have selected some fine people to work in your ministry…  Your attention keeps us fighting another day. - Chaplain (CPT) Dell Harlow-Curtis, April 2009

Since my NCOIC signed his soldiers up for Soldiers’ Angels, we have all received numerous cards and letters from people who care. It makes me even more proud to be a soldier, knowing how much support we have and to have the sacrifices soldiers make get noticed. There is no other feeling!  Thank you! – Miranda, April 2009

From the Soldiers and Civilians of the 56th Signal Company Camp Arifjan, Kuwait we would like to thank you for the box we received… Thank you again, and you are the true heroes--you all set the example of what it means to go above and beyond the call of duty. – Master Sergeant Phillip Rivera, April 2009

On behalf of everyone our UMT represents, I would like to say, "Thank you." That comes from the bottom of all of our hearts. Our Soldiers who go out on their daily missions up North are very appreciative of your support--all 1200+. – PFC Sarah Downey, Chaplain Assistant in Kuwait, April 2009

I just wanted to say thank you for the mugs!  We are on a NATO base with many other nationalities, and our American National Support Element has been handing out the travel coffee mugs with your logo on them.  They are a huge hit!  Whoever thought to send coffee mugs is a genius, and I just wanted to let you know that we truly appreciate your kind gift and all the things you are doing for us. - Lieutenant W. in Kabul, US Navy

Thank you for the package...I do not get a lot of packages here and that really helped out a lot.  Thank you once again for everything you do for the soldiers that are over here...THANK YOU SO MUCH. - Sergeant S.

I would like to say thank you all for your unconditional support. This has been a blessing for me and many others. My wife wife and I look forward to signing up to adopt a soldier when I arrive back home. - Specialist E. in Iraq, February 2009

Thank you so much for the package!  I'm at WRAMC and it really lifted my spirits AND came in handy right away.  It means a lot, and from me and all the other soldiers, thank you! - Eric, patient at Water Reed

The box of hygiene items could not have come at a better time. We have a few guys out with the Iraqis in a joint security station. They do not have hygiene items available to them...Thank you again. All of the support we receive really does make our jobs as leaders easier. It significantly increases the morale of our Soldiers while bridging the gaps of support. - Captain B, 82nd Airborne

When I first sent you an email asking for coffee, I never imagined the tremendous response by your organization.  I want you to know that your efforts have had a definite impact in raising the morale of the Soldiers in my unit...It makes me proud to know that there are so many people like you that support the troops in this way.  I can't express the thanks that you and the people from Soldiers' Angels deserve. - SFC W., February 2009

Soldier’s Angels has been there for my men (and for me) during our darkest hours and in our moments of triumph.  You are all Angels in the truest sense. - Captain O. in Iraq, January 2009

Thanks for everything and all you did for us. It was truly a blessing and made our stay and job over here much easier in Iraq.  You all have been a blessing and a great inspiration to us, and we owe you so much. So we say thank you...for what you all do to make the soldiers' life much more enjoyable and show them that there are people out there that care about what we are doing here in Iraq.  Again, thanks for everything, from me and the soldiers here. - Donald, January 2009

I am overwhelmed with what you are doing for our deployed Soldiers and to my Soldiers.  Please send my deepest and sincere thanks to all your Angels for helping out these great warriors of ours...What you do saves lives and hope. - CSM Fidelito Ordonio

Truly, I am blessed to be serving our nation towards a cause I recognize on a daily basis that has a profound and positive impact on the nation of Afghanistan.  I appreciate the support of this program and all the volunteers who donate their time, money and effort towards making it a success - you truly have met your mark.  – CW3 Teeple, (Jan 2009)

Guys, you would not believe how much all of us over here enjoy your program !!!!!!! - Sailor M.H., in Kuwait

We have received many boxes of wonderful things here in Afghanistan, and I wanted to thank you for your dedication and enormous efforts to take care of us. We truly do not need for anything here accept our loved ones from home, which you can't send. I feel better taken care of in theater than ever before in my life.  I feel American commitment to this war effort through your generosity and devotion to caring for us…  – CDR L, US Navy nurse (Jan 2009)

I spent some time with M today, navigating his new Valour-IT laptop. The voice recognition software was fairly easy to use. This picture was taken by the social worker there for their newsletter. Today was the first day she had ever seen him smile! ...M did not want to put the computer away when I was leaving. He wanted to go through the tutorial again and make sure he knew how to do everything. Thank you all for helping change the life of this hero. - Angel Greta.

I am the commander of Charlie Company [3-10], an Aero-Medical Evacuation Company, and wanted to say thank you for taking such great care of my Soldiers and I.  We are constantly getting items that really make things easier for us here in Iraq.  Your support and dedication are greatly appreciated… - MAJ Lineberry

Thank you so much for delivering the computer, quilt and goodies.  It is comforting to know there are people who care so much.  After a year of surgeries, treatment and therapy, it can be discouraging. – Captain V

Thank you all so very much for the care and compassion you have for the soldiers of our great nation.  Your dedication to the morale of our troops is evident every time a box appears on our shelf from the many Angels across the country.  It’s people like you that keep the fighting spirit in the American soldier. – Specialist D, in Afghanistan

Thanks you so much for all the coffee.  Of course, I am sharing it with the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines working with me here.   A good cup of joe is one of the highlights of our long days over here in Baghdad. - Colonel McCarthy, USMC

I would LOVE to thank everyone at Soldiers…I loved everything.  It helped out a lot. I know that when mail call came around and they called my name, my day was instantly better, and I’m glad that there are people out there that are willing to write and send things.  It boosted my morale and made it easier.  The time flew by because I got books and snacks and a lot of other things…Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. - SrA Perez, Afghanistan (Jan, 2009)

...It is from many people like yourselves that we make it through rough times. Every snack, book, or card sent to us brightens up our day and lets many of us know that people still care. These packages and especially the cards from elementary children lift our spirits higher than the sky. Even though we are thousands of miles away from home, the warmth of the heart is felt upon arrival of these packages. I take great pride in knowing that I help defend a country in which many people like yourselves are still warmhearted and caring. I know now why I do this: for my country, for my home, and all the people in it. May the blessings of a thousand angels sing upon your lives. Thank you. - SPC James

Since being officially adopted by April, I have received many letters and warm wishes that I was brought to tears...As my time ends here in the next month or so I reflect on all the support that has been given to me from...the many people who adopt soldiers through this organization...

The true heroes are the men and women who stand behind the United States Military. The same men and women who give us the courage to fight, the same men and women who empower us with their support and prayers. On the behalf of all the men and women of the armed forces, I would like to thank you for all that you have done for us. - SGT Z (Afghanistan, Nov 2008)

Christmas came early this year and I just wanted to say thank you.  If only you could have seen the looks on my troops' faces when all those boxes came in.  I have never seen such a giddy group of grown men.  The blankets were snatched up first (I think since that was the first box opened) and then they tore into the other boxes.  We have a group sharing an office here, so it was cute to see the guys barter and trade goods.  The socks and coffee mugs were very hot items.  And, much to my surprise, the little toys were quickly snatched up as well.  Grown men, little toys, big grins, priceless.  Thanks again for your continued support, it means a lot to me and the guys.  Hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, ours just got a whole bunch better. - CW2 Hobin (Afghanistan, Nov 2008)

My son, SPC Charles Smith, was in Germany after he was injured by an IED in Iraq. I would like to say Thank You to the Soldiers' Angels for being there for him.

I have attached a picture of him in his "Soldiers' Angels" T-shirt. I had no idea even who the Soldiers' Angels were, as when I got this pic sent to me online, I could not figure out what it said, or meant. Now I do know both.

I appreciate so much what you did for him...I have now joined the Soldiers' Angels to help others as my son was helped.

Again, thank you to the Soldiers Angels' in Germany... from the bottom of my heart. - Sincerely, Susan Davis

I can't tell you how much our sponsors made our deployment time better/easier. Movies, music, food stuff, batteries by the dozen, and letters kept me going on many a mission. We were constantly in the fight as infantry Soldiers...I really didn't have anyone else back stateside or otherwise to send me anything, so you were my family in my time of need. I cannot express how important that lifeline was for me during that period. It kept me going, and it gave me purpose during my down times: writing letters and taking pictures to send back to the sponsors, etc. Everything that I got, I shared with my buddies, who were equally appreciative. Our sponsors sent cookies and chips and ramen noodles, etc. That stuff kept us going for a long time. When you're stuck on a Fire Base with about 45 Soldiers and you're constantly being attacked, that perimeter becomes a prison cell…anything from the world makes a huge physiological effect. - Sergeant P.W.

About two weeks ago I was informed by my friend that they could no longer care for my dog Breaker...I was in panic, what was I do to? I am in Iraq and my dog, who is like my child, needs a new home...One early morning I sat down at my computer and began to write my heart out to Kathy (a Soldiers' Angels friend), and explain to her my concerns and fears. By that afternoon Kathy emailed me and told me she had found someone to care for Breaker. That person was Andrea in Minnesota, but Breaker is in Kansas.  How will I get him there? Kathy and Andrea assured me that they would work their Soldiers' Angels magic and get Breaker to Minnesota.

Once I gave them the ok, I provided Andrea with the contact information of my friend who had Breaker, and the next day someone picked him up. Late last night I received an email from Andrea with a picture of Breaker and her dog Riley sitting on the couch together, happy as can be!

Thank God for Soldiers' Angels! They saved me and gave me peace! - Senior Airman Nicole

John and I received one of your backpacks. I was shot in Afghanistan and I'm now at home recovering with my family...I thank you for your support of the Soldiers, and your prayers. Support from people like you makes me proud to serve this great nation. I hope this finds you in good health, and my family and I thank you very much. - SFC P (Army Special Operations, 2008).

Oh my dear Angels, thank you so much for remembering my son on his birthday while he is in Afghanistan. I just received a letter today (dated July 27), And Jim mentioned with joy having received the cards and packages from your organization..."I received cards and packages from people I never met, it brightened my day, it was awesome." Letters coming home are slow and erratic. But I wanted you to know that the letters I received in August changed. They were more like the letters my son would right...optimistic and lighthearted. Again my most sincere thanks for being his angels. You made a real difference in my son's life. - Terry (August 2008)

I recently received a package with your emblem on it and in it were some PJs, towels, and a phone card. I'm currently stationed at a small patrol base, and the comfort these items bring will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. - PFC S.N. (Iraq, 2008)

I received the box with the hygiene and snacks.  THANK YOU so much.  You guys over there really are angels.  Here are a few pics of us enjoying your box.  Once again, thanks. - SGT O.

Here are a couple of photos of the Swap Meet we have. It is where we put out all the donations sent, and the soldiers come and get what they need. They live for the Saturdays we do this.

I got the packages you sent. You are all so wonderful. Thank you all so much. I also appreciate how much you get the word out about us. I have been contacted by others and they mention they were referred by you... - Janice, 345th Combat Support Hospital (Iraq, 2008)

I was medically retired form the Army in July 2007 and returned home to Texas. I ended up in San Antonio where we fell upon hard times. I, by the grace of God, met someone from Soldiers' Angels who helped me and my family get through those hard times. We have made it up onto our feet and are actually doing quite well thanks to Angela and Soldiers' Angels. I am currently working as a contractor for the government at [a military base] and was wondering if you had a team in this area. If so how would I be able to contact that team and offer my time to help in any way possible? And if not, could there be one in this area soon, or how could this be accomplished? I am beyond thankful for all that Soldiers' Angels did for me and my family. I would like to offer more than money to help any other soldier or veteran in need and I believe that your organization is tops at accomplishing this. I would love the opportunity to help give back to the soldier. I know that money is a good way to help give but would like to more than just that. Thank you. - KS

Thank you ever so much for the new laptop. I'm already using it here on the patio of the Mologne house with Monica and the others. It is AWESOME!!!!!!! I desperately needed a new computer. I've been using one that I purchased before i got hit in 2003. This is a dream come true. With love and the greatest appreciation - SGT Ron, Walter Reed Army Medical Center
