Thank Yous and Angel Stories
PAGE 1 PAGE 2 PAGE 4...Thanks for letting me vent just a little - I have no one to say all the above to, and I am a bit blue, but my Soldiers' Angels are out there and I am so thankful that you are all there. - A commanding officer in Afghanistan, December 2009

...Thank you for an amazing group. I was hurt in Iraq two years ago from a bomb and had no clothing afterwards. Thanks to this group, I had enough to wear and [I] still wear the clothing your group sent me to this day. Thanks for everything. Every little bit this group did is greatly appreciated. - Timothy, December 2009

I received a package about a week ago and was just filled with joy. It is amazing that we have so many people that support us during this time of war. I thank you so much for your support and appreciate all that you do!!! - SPC Ashley P., December 2009

I am stationed in Kabul, Afghanistan, and a group of friends and I just had breakfast in our cafeteria. We had received stockings from the chaplains two nights before, and we opened them today--Christmas morning--together. It was great to get the gifts and to know you all were thinking of us. The cards, however, were especially meaningful. Mine is in pencil, in a child's handwriting, addressed "Dear U.S. Solider [sic]" and thanking us for keeping you safe. I think we all had a tear in our eyes as I read it out loud to the group. We just wanted you to know how much it improved our holiday, knowing that you all are back home thinking of us... You are heroes. - Elizabeth, December 2009

I can’t express how grateful I am with you and your organization. What you did for us was a really wonderful thing. I was overwhelmed with my situation until my Army Wounded Warrior Advocate Vina referred me to you guys. Thank you so much for all the things you’ve done for me and my family, also to other injured or ill soldiers. We will always remember in our hearts the great things you have done for us. - Ferdinand and Tracy, November 2009

...You’ve made the mission loads easier for us and we do not overlook the time and effort you put into each package…You’ve done more than I can say for our platoon, so thank you again. My platoon [and I] will never forget the care and the support you’ve shown us. – Lance Corporal Baker, November 2009

I am...currently deployed to Afghanistan. I just wanted to drop a quick note and say thanks for all the things you have been doing for us. The sweatshirts you guys sent us when we were injured were the greatest things since mom's home cooking! - A.J., November 2009

It was so warm and comforting to receive coffee in our shop…In fact I am having some coffee as I write this thank you note. Again, thank you very much for the generous donation. It really does make a difference knowing people back home support us. Even the little things make a big difference out here. - Cpl. Kahawai, USMC, November 2009

I received the boxes of cards a couple of days a go and I cannot even begin to tell you how extremely delighted and excited the soldiers are to have them to send home. The selection that we have at the PX is paltry at best. Plus plus their cards don't really cover the awkward feelings or truly heartfelt emotions that (I feel) Hallmark has always been able to convey. Once again Soldiers' Angels has come through for us in a spectacular way, and we feel truly cared for and cherished. Thank you so much. - SGT Sandra Shane, November 2009

Our unit, the 211th MP Bn here at Camp Taji, Iraq, just received a wonderful care package from your organization and I wanted to take a minute to thank all involved in the effort. You guys are doing a wonderful job in bringing joy to the faces of soldiers who (aside from their friends and families) many forgot back home. Keep up the great work, and again, thanks. - SGM Jack Owens, October 2009

I received some great boxes today from members of Soldier's Angels. It made me cry, I can't believe so many people care about the Soldiers. Sometimes my own family do not send me anything. Without Soldier's Angels I do not think I would have been able to make it. - Diann, October 2009

Your organization is truly something special. Even as I browse your website, I literally have to fight back tears of emotion because of all that you do to support the war fighter. The support you have shown to my eleven-man team has been outstanding, responsive and inspiring. Words can never say enough. - Scott, October 2009

I am on my last year in the Army and will hit 20 next year after the deployment. But, this program will help those coming behind me and the ones that currently fall under me realize that somewhere, someone does care alot for them, and that there is an Angel out there for us all watching over us, until we all come home. Again, I thank you so much from the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of my Soldiers I say God bless you all... SFC Lux, Iraq, October 2009

I would like to thank each and every person involved with Soldiers' Angels. My son was injured in Afghanistan. When he arrived home a few weeks ago, he showed me all the things that he had received from Soldiers' Angels...You were there to give my son a touch from home when I couldn't. Thank you so very much for that! - Rhonda, September 2009

I am a Military wife, my friend pointed me in this direction and I have skimmed through some of the things that you do. It is amazing and I know many soldiers need that support…I want to say thank you for all that you are doing to show them that they are appreciated. It means a lot to them, it also means a lot to us, as "Silent Ranks," to know that we are not the only ones supporting the loves of our lives! - Tabbitha, September 2009

Thank you Soldier's Angels for all you have done for my daughter and our family over the last two years. You sent our family and my son-in-law's family to Bethesda multiple times to be with him after he was hit by an IED in Iraq. I don't think he would be alive today without the love and support we were able to give to him after he was first injured. You are truly Angels in my family's eyes. - Tony, August 2009

We just received a big awesome packet with a coffee maker, grinder, coffee, mugs, sugar, etc...you have no idea how much we were praying for coffee and a coffee maker. Thanks for all the beautiful things you do for us! - SGT G.Y., August 2009

It is hard to describe the excitement...that comes when the mail is distributed and group care packages arrive. The word spreads, near childish joyful sounds come from folks that are usually quite mature. Thanks again for putting a smile on many faces today. – Lt Col Hasty, July 2009

I have been sitting here since about 1pm trying to find the words to say thank you. I am stunned and I still cannot believe that I am typing on a brand new laptop. Whatever and whenever you need help, I will be there. When I WIN my national title for disable shooting next year I will do so with the flag you gave me. When I shoot I do so not only for myself but for all the Angels' across the world. - John, July 2009

...You all personify that American spirit of "oneness", regardless of geographic local of a person...Someday, when I am done with my military career I have a feeling I will join your organization and give back to the next generation of service members as you are doing now. - 1LT Terman, Afghanistan, July 2009

My family and I received assistance from Soldier's Angels when we were at the end of our rope. It seemed like from the time that my husband was injured in Iraq that we were fighting a losing battle staying on our feet emotionally and financially. We were not prepared for the "real world" as civilians as we thought we were...When your organization came to our rescue, we finally felt like someone cared. So, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for myself and my family. - Shea, July 2009

My husband was just deployed and only at his duty station for two days when he received his care package… I am not sure what came in his box, but he said that it answered some of his prayers. Knowing that there are people out there, other than family and friends, who support our troops just warms my heart. Julie, “USMC Sergeant’s Wife,” May 2009

I spent some time with M today, navigating his new Valour-IT laptop. The voice recognition software was fairly easy to use. This picture was taken by the social worker there for their newsletter. Today was the first day she had ever seen him smile! ...M did not want to put the computer away when I was leaving. He wanted to go through the tutorial again and make sure he knew how to do everything. Thank you all for helping change the life of this hero. - Angel Greta.

I would LOVE to thank everyone at Soldiers…I loved everything. It helped out a lot. I know that when mail call came around and they called my name, my day was instantly better, and I’m glad that there are people out there that are willing to write and send things. It boosted my morale and made it easier. The time flew by because I got books and snacks and a lot of other things…Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. - SrA Perez, Afghanistan (Jan, 2009)

...It is from many people like yourselves that we make it through rough times. Every snack, book, or card sent to us brightens up our day and lets many of us know that people still care. These packages and especially the cards from elementary children lift our spirits higher than the sky. Even though we are thousands of miles away from home, the warmth of the heart is felt upon arrival of these packages. I take great pride in knowing that I help defend a country in which many people like yourselves are still warmhearted and caring. I know now why I do this: for my country, for my home, and all the people in it. May the blessings of a thousand angels sing upon your lives. Thank you. - SPC James

Christmas came early this year and I just wanted to say thank you. If only you could have seen the looks on my troops' faces when all those boxes came in. I have never seen such a giddy group of grown men. The blankets were snatched up first (I think since that was the first box opened) and then they tore into the other boxes. We have a group sharing an office here, so it was cute to see the guys barter and trade goods. The socks and coffee mugs were very hot items. And, much to my surprise, the little toys were quickly snatched up as well. Grown men, little toys, big grins, priceless. Thanks again for your continued support, it means a lot to me and the guys. Hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, ours just got a whole bunch better. - CW2 Hobin (Afghanistan, Nov 2008)

My son, SPC Charles Smith, was in Germany after he was injured by an IED in Iraq. I would like to say Thank You to the Soldiers' Angels for being there for him.
I have attached a picture of him in his "Soldiers' Angels" T-shirt. I had no idea even who the Soldiers' Angels were, as when I got this pic sent to me online, I could not figure out what it said, or meant. Now I do know both.
I appreciate so much what you did for him...I have now joined the Soldiers' Angels to help others as my son was helped.
Again, thank you to the Soldiers Angels' in Germany... from the bottom of my heart. - Sincerely, Susan Davis

I can't tell you how much our sponsors made our deployment time better/easier. Movies, music, food stuff, batteries by the dozen, and letters kept me going on many a mission. We were constantly in the fight as infantry Soldiers...I really didn't have anyone else back stateside or otherwise to send me anything, so you were my family in my time of need. I cannot express how important that lifeline was for me during that period. It kept me going, and it gave me purpose during my down times: writing letters and taking pictures to send back to the sponsors, etc. Everything that I got, I shared with my buddies, who were equally appreciative. Our sponsors sent cookies and chips and ramen noodles, etc. That stuff kept us going for a long time. When you're stuck on a Fire Base with about 45 Soldiers and you're constantly being attacked, that perimeter becomes a prison cell…anything from the world makes a huge physiological effect. - Sergeant P.W.
