| Job Description |
Summary: Inspect locomotives on a regular basis within prescribed standards to identify areas requiring repair or maintenance and performance of necessary repairs. Apply requirements of regulatory agencies, industry associations and company maintenance policy. Maintain and update maintenance and repair records. Monitor company inventory of equipment, parts, and supplies, and initiate timely orders for replenishment. Perform other tasks necessary to efficient operation of equipment as assigned. Requirements:· Ability to perform mechanical, air brake and electrical repairs to EMD diesel-electric locomotives.· Must be willing to maintain IORY, CIND and CFER locomotives where overnight stays are required.· Comprehensive/working knowledge of FRA, OSHA, EPA Regulations, AAR safety inspection requirements and Company maintenance policies.· Ability to diagnose problems, make repairs to railroad equipment including rail cars, appropriately and efficiently. · Complete understanding of RailAmerica’s Inventory and Purchasing control policy.· Working conditions may include exposure to various temperatures while working outdoors.· Must have a working knowledge of, and be familiar with various types of tools and equipment such as but not limited to: torches, welders, fork lift, hammers, jacks, various types of other mechanical, pneumatic and electric meters pertaining to the construction, testing and maintenance of locomotives, vehicles and equipment.· Ability to frequently reach, lift, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 80 pounds. |

| Qualifications |
• Must possess good communication skills, have the ability to communicate effectively in writing and will be required to complete reports and maintenance plans.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email, and internet search techniques preferred
• Must possess valid drivers license.
• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred; or two years related experience may be substituted for each year of college.
• Knowledge of railway safety and operating rules – willingness to be trained as a locomotive servicing engineer and/or any other railroad duties.
