Soldiers' Angels has been a long-term supporter of Fisher Houses.  As of November 2008 we no longer have a specific team devoted to the task, but we often work in coordination with them on various projects.  We encourage anyone desiring to help to contact their local Fisher House and independently offer time and donations to the Fisher House organization.

Fisher Houses serve as a “home away from home” for families of military personnel and veterans receiving medical care at major military and VA medical facilities. All of the houses are built and run by the Fisher House Foundation.

The average stay in-hospital for a combat-wounded service member is 45-60 days, and can often be a year or more, so providing the means for families to be with their loved ones is critical to their recovery process. Support from other families experiencing the same issues can be vital in helping the loved ones cope, too.

The Houses are designed to accommodate multiple families and feature common kitchens, large communal dining rooms, and living areas stocked with books and toys for children. Families stay free of charge.  As combat casualties continues to accumulate, these facilities are called upon to serve more and more families.
