Nat'l Salute to Veteran Patients
The week of February 14 (the 12th to the 18th) is National Salute to Veteran Patients, a special time to show your love and appreciation for America’s hospitalized veterans. What better time could there be than Valentine’s Day to remind our heroes that they are ALWAYS in our hearts!
Over 98,000 veterans of the Armed Forces are cared for every day in Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers. Soldiers’ Angels is calling on all Angel volunteers to visit their local VA and say thank you to these heroes. Your thanks can range from your time to a special handmade gift or other appreciated ite. Just contact the Soldiers’ Angels VA Support Team at firstname.lastname@example.org to get involved!
According to the VA website, the purpose of the National Salute to Veteran Patients Program is to:
- Pay tribute and express appreciation to veterans
- Increase community awareness of the role of the VA medical center
- Encourage citizens to visit hospitalized Veterans and to become involved as volunteers
During the National Salute, the VA invites individuals, veterans groups, military personnel, civic organizations, businesses, schools, local media, celebrities and sports stars to participate in a variety of activities at the VA medical centers. The activities and events include special ward visits and Valentine distributions, photo opportunities, school essay contests, special recreation activities and veteran recognition programs.
Soldiers’ Angels is honored to stand with the VA to show unending love and support for America’s veterans of all generations. Email email@example.com to see how you can help!
