Once again, Church on Fire Ministries is sponsoring a 5K run/walk in support of the work of Soldiers' Angels for America's wounded warriors and their families. Residents of Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky are invited to participate in this event on May 16, 2009 (Armed Forces Day) in Harrison, Ohio.
“I just can't get my mind off the young men and women who serve,” said Randy Moore, outreach coordinator for Church On Fire Ministries. “If I can help just one come home, or maybe one heal with a better outlook, then it's worth my best efforts.”
Operation Outreach will provide much-needed donations to the Blankets of Hope project and other assistance for the wounded. The Blankets of Hope program provides homemade blankets and quilts, each individually made by one of thousands of volunteers across the country and bearing messages of encouragement and support, to those who have been wounded in the line of duty. Soldiers’ Angels also raises funds to provide financial aid to our wounded soldiers and their families who have served and been injured on the front lines.
“Church on Fire Ministries is helping to bring awareness to the fact that we have our troops in harm’s way,” stated Patti Patton-Bader, founder of Soldiers’ Angels. “It is only through these collaborative efforts that we can hope to help the large number of deployed and wounded heroes.”
Runners and walkers can register online, with a deadline of May 3, 2009. Funds beyond the $20 participant fee will be raised via sponsorship and donations from local businesses and individuals, and from the sale of parachute-cord bracelets created by soldiers currently and formerly stationed overseas.
