Amazing Angels of 2012

Congratulations to the 2012 Angels of the Year!

A resident of Florida, John Adkins does so much to ensure that the many military personnel, veterans and family in his area know that America has their backs.  From a project designed to cover a neighborhood park with flags while raising money for troop support projects, to supporting the leadership of fellow Angels in last year's Run for Remembrance on 9-11 and providing a number of activities for wounded warriors in his area, John is a whirlwind of Angel activity.  In addition to his own leadership, he has a real knack for inspiring the people around him to step up and lead efforts in support of the troops themselves.

Diane Snider is Team Leader for Deployed Medical and Ladies of Liberty, and also works with Cards Plus & Living Legends, plus helps out a lot with group adoptions for heroes in very austere conditions.  She's an all-around, "everything Angel," mentoring, organizing, tracking and coordinating projects and teams.  "I do lots of logistics," she says.  All that volunteering adds up to Averages over 20 hours a week!

Besides being a CNC, Julie Morelli heads up the Washington Wounded Team, working very closely with the Warrior Transition Battalion at nearby Ft. Lewis.  She coordinates with Angels, businesses, and donors to regularly provide gift baskets for warriors and families along with monthly dinners there.  This last year she also worked with a local vehicle repair shop to refurbish a van for a wounded warrior family.

Founder's Award - With a loving spirit that doesn't seek recognition or titles, Kristy Spurgeon is a perfect candidate for the Founder's Award, given to an Angel who embodies the selfless passion and spirit of Soldiers' Angels without filling any formal leadership role.  She's so modest that it's hard to get her to talk about what she does, but needless to say, she's a very busy Angel.

Congratulations to all of the amazing Angels who have dedicated themselves to caring for our troops and their families!
