Bikes Fly to Military Kids on Angel Wings
On Friday, bikes flew on Angel wings! With the assistance of Soldiers' Angels, San Antonio nonprofit Celebration of Love provided 300 specially-screened military children with a bike for Christmas, a gift their families would never have been able to procure on their own.
Soldiers' Angels covered the cost of about half of the bikes distributed at a Fort Hood Christmas party held in a hanger on the flight line, helping ensure a very special Christmas for military children whose parents have sacrificed so much. The rest of the distributed bikes were funded by individual sponsorships through Celebration of Love.
The bikes were assembled by Celebration of Love volunteers the previous weekend, then each of the 300 recipients were assigned a bike specifically for their interests and needs at Christmas party. In addition, five military families were given a car that is fully ensured for the first year of ownership, donated by other Celebration of Love sponsors.
This was the first of several cooperative events between Celebration of Love and Soldiers' Angels. Later in December, Soldiers' Angels will be assisting Celebration in providing Christmas Turkey and fixings for needy military families in the San Antonio area.
