Teamwork Means Car for Hero Family

UPDATE:  The Tanton family recently sent Soldiers' Angels Washington an update on their situation.  They wrote:

I cannot say it enough, but thank all of you so much for this amazing gift! We now have 3 children and don't have to constantly worry about transportation :) The van is running strong and has allowed us to take quite a few family outings, to include a trip to Maple Valley so the kids could pick out a beautiful Christmas tree.

Says Washington State CNC Julie, "So great.  They are such an appreciative and wonderful family!"

In Washington State, Precision Collision Auto Body, LKQ Keystone, PPG , and KKWF Radio worked together this summer and fall to provide a Recycled Ride to a wounded warrior family in the Joint Base Lewis-McCord area.   With the help of Precision Collision Auto Body, a relatively-low-mileage 2008 Honda Odyssey was donated by USAA and fully checked/restored to excellent condition before being given to wounded warrior Joshua Tanton and his family a couple of weeks ago.

Criteria for winning included financial need and impact the gift would have on the receiving family, among other things.  Joshua and his wife have two young children with another on the way, so the minivan will be the perfect transportation for his expanding family.

At the announcement ceremony, local Angels and other citizens helped provide gift baskets for the all the wounded warrior families who were finalists but didn't win the car.  The baskets were filled with goodies and gift cards from many generous donors. Toysmith also donated toys for the children and Soldiers' Angels provided a Kindle Fire for each finalist family.

Huge thanks to Soldiers' Angels Washington for supporting and coordinating with the amazing team of people who made this happen!  For more pictures and info, see the Soldiers' Angels Washignton Blog.
