The Soldiers' Angels Ride (SoAR) on November 17 drew over 50 riders and 300 guests, a smashing success for a first-time event.
The ride portion of the event went from Javelina Harley Davidson halfway to Luckenbach and back, a lovely scenic and curving drive for motorcyclists. Following the ride, everyone rocked out to Whiskey Rodeo while enjoying ice cold beer, food truck fare, and fundraising auctions and raffles.
"It was a really good day," said Soldiers' Angels staff member Crystal. "Javelina Harley was very impressed, and they're talking about doing it on an annual basis."
The event was coordinated by a group of University of Texas San Antonio students as part of their Small Group Communications class, who helped the event run smoothly. "UTSA students did a great job getting everything together," Crystal reported. "Everyone commented on how well-organized it was and how many people showed up." Registration fees and t-shirts, along with the auction, food sales and a raffle raised over $4,000 for Wrapped in Holiday Spirit troop support.
Congratulations to Event Chairman Vanessa Thomas, her fellow Communication students, and all involved in making the event such a great success!
