Recycle for the Troops

San Antonio electronics recycler CLI is teaming up with Soldiers' Angels to turn used electronics into support for the troops!

Every November 15 is America Recycles Day, and each year CLI holds a special event to raise awareness of recycling, encouraging people to bring in their old electronics to support various nonprofits.  For every pound of approved items, the owner's chosen nonprofit receives 50 cents.  Any nonprofit or school can sign up to benefit from the drive, but this year CLI is setting aside all unspecified items brought for recycling to support Soldiers' Angels.

CLI chose Soldiers' Angels as a partner after much consideration.  "We've looked a long time for a nonprofit to support," says CLI co-owner Angelika Kluna.  "We wanted something that was unique to us and that we felt strongly about"  Both she and her business partner have military family and--as recyclers of technology products--they were particularly impressed by technology aspect of Soldiers' Angels as seen in project like Valour-IT.

The drive is one day, only:  November 15.  Approved items for CLI's recycling drive include old items such as VCRs and DVRs, as well as smart phones, rechargeable batteries and game consoles (click for a full list and drop-off details).

If you don't live in the San Antonio area, keep your eyes open for an upcoming nationwide drive for used electronics, and pass this story on to anyone you know in the San Antonio area!  Thanks to CLI for an exciting new project and the beginning of what all involved hope will become a continuing relationship on a nationwide scale.
