In Placerville, CA a very special new thrift store is combining their mission of providing quality items with support of worthy organizations. The Community Browser Thrift Store opened on June 2nd of this year, but they're already dividing sales between Soldiers' Angels, Web of Support and a nonprofit helping special needs children.
Perfectly placed in the men's department window is a Soldiers' Angels flag that can be seen both inside and outside. From the inside the light shines through, making the flag glow. "It's very striking that way," says co-owner Candice Gibson. Candice and her husband Steve also tell every customer all about Soldiers' Angels.
The new store is a labor of love for Candice and Steve, both of whom are retiring after long professional careers. "Not only is this our opportunity to give back to the community by offering affordable resale in these trying times," says Candice. "It also generates the funds we donate to programs that Steve and I hold dear to our hearts.”
Beginning this month, the store is beginning a new fundraising project, "Opportunity Drawings." Each month a valuable item is raffled off; this month it's a vintage, highly-collectible McCoy pitcher and bowl set, along with a matching butter dish. Proceeds from drawings will be split among the three groups Community Browser supports.
Commmunity Browser offers high quality used goods for sale, including antiques, gifts, upscale and vintage clothing, and more. They are proud of offering an attractive shopping environment for those looking for quality items at good prices.
Thank you to Candice and Steve for such a beautiful effort in support of worthy projects. May you have continuing success with the store!
