A Fond Farewell to Toby Nunn

07/17/12

With a tear in our eye, Soldiers' Angels bids goodbye to Executive Director Toby Nunn, who is moving on to other professional pursuits.

A veteran of several combat deployments to Iraq, Nunn joined Soldiers' Angels in 2008 as Operations Manager and moved up to Executive Director in late 2010, overseeing an expansion of support activities for veterans.  He was often the face of Soldiers' Angels, regularly meeting with donors, clients and VIPs to develop new projects and draw attention to the needs of active duty personnel, military families, wounded warriors and veterans.

Founder and CEO Patti Patton-Bader expects Nunn to move on to "bigger and better things" as he builds a new career in media relations.  "We are so thankful to have been able to work with him over the last four years and wish him all the best in his new direction," she says.  "Not only was Toby a wonderful person to work with, he is a true American hero to admire."

Nunn's experience with Soldiers' Angels inspired the S.A.V.E. Project, which helps transitioning veterans with both short and long-term jobs as they move into the civilian sector.  "Soldiers' Angels really helped me land back in America in a softer capacity than the crash landing I was headed for on my own," he says. "I am eternally grateful to Patti and the Board of Trustees for their faith and confidence. I am transitioning into the fields of media relations and productions, with--of course--a veteran flavor."

In addition to his work with Soldiers' Angels, Nunn writes a long-running blog at tobynunn.com and was featured in the Iraq documentary Bad Voodoo's War, which aired on PBS Frontline in 2008.

All the best to Toby in his new ventures!  He will be missed!
