Franki Love
"All I want to do with music is give it to others. Share my heart and soul." - Franki Love
Franki Love grew up in New York, but has switched coasts and now calls L.A. her home. A classically trained pianist, she never expected she would become a singer. However, she was hooked when she wrote her first song. "I knew through thick and thin, I had found my purpose," she writes.
Franki's music betrays her affinity for deep lyrics and strong melodies, which she says "completely enrapture" her. On her website, she explains how they led her to be a songwriter:
When I first listened to songs like, Carole King’s, “You’ve Got A Friend”, Tracy Chapman’s, “Fast Car”, The Beatles, “Let It Be”, they struck a chord in my heart so deeply that I started to write poetry. Then one day, I sat down at the piano and thought, hmmmm… I can play the keys, I love to sing, and I love poetry, so I just wrote a song purely for fun. After I wrote my first song, time stood still for a while. I experienced an epiphany that woke me up and made me realize that I need to share my music with the world.
In 2004 Franki was name “Female Singer/Songwriter of the Year” at the L.A. Music Awards, and her song Shadow was “Adult Contemporary Single of the Year” in 2005. Besides writing songs and performing live, she has also composed for TV and film.
The best thing about Franki is her support for the troops who keep America safe so that she can pursue her love of music. For Mother's Day this year, with the help of family and friends, she donated 2200 of her Momma CDs to Soldiers' Angels for deployed mothers. She is also working with Soldiers' Angels to make another large CD donation for the winter holidays. For more about this wonderful artist, check out her website!

Dogs trained to interact with people in need of emotional support are proving very useful for veterans with severe physical or emotional wounds (i.e. PTSD). Under the guidance of Patsy Swendson, Soldiers' Angels is developing a team of "Support Dogs." This is one of the first two dogs of the new team in action.

Since being crowned Miss Teen Minnesota International in 2009, a position she will hang onto until March 6, 2010, 17-year-old Jessica Scheu has been promoting her platform – Soldier’s Angels – and its message: “May no soldier go unloved.” In her work with Soldier’s Angels, Scheu adopted a soldier who she corresponds with by writing letters and sending care packages. She also participates in the Ladies of Liberty program, which supports women soldiers during deployment, and the Warriors to Citizens military program based in Farmington. |
