Heroes Waiting
for Adoption
Founder's Notes
Patti Patton-Bader's weekly newsletter sent by emailDear Angels,
Spring is approaching the snow is melting, birds are singing… heroes are fighting for freedom and Angels are busy supporting them. This week we have the exciting celebration of the new facilities in San Antonio, and it’s been so great to see the number of heroes waiting for adoption finally drop below 1,000. Let’s keep up the great energy!
Dear Angels,
This week I’m sharing Founder’s Notes with two special Angels to talk about a very serious and difficult subject. Two recent high-profile suicides of children of celebrities brought attention to a problem that affects all people, both soldiers and civilians alike. We’re hoping that in writing this we can point you as Angels to some resources for people who are hurting, and ways you can help them.
Dear Angels,
As I’ve said many times, it truly takes takes a nation to heal a war. We each have to do our part in a variety of proactive ways, discovering how we can best offer a hand, show our gratitude, and create a space for adjustment. Here’s one way that just tickles my wings…
Dear Angels,
This week I’m so excited to tell you about two great ways to support the troops while having fun or even doing something good for yourself! You can put your love for our wounded heroes into a homemade motivational banner, and even join in the bike ride… or spend some money on clothing for you or your hero while helping Soldiers’ Angels at the same time!
Dear Angels
With Valentine’s Day coming up this weekend, it’s a week of love! And I have two great things to tell you about that are all wrapped up around the ideas of love and gratitude for our troops…
Giving thanks… Thanksgiving isn’t the only time for it! This week, as we continue to work hard to show our love and thanks to the troops, we note that they have a tendency to turn it all right back on us…
Dear Angels,
We’re having a party!
Dear Angels,
I’ve been telling you this year about how important I believe creative thinking, positive outlook, and generous spirit are in making good things happen. Here are some great Angels and a company who are at the forefront of living those values…
Dear Angels,
As I wrote before Christmas, we faced the challenges of last year and came through with flying colors because we remained hopeful and positive, focused on our mission. I wanted to continue that spirit by sending out the most positive note I could to start our 2010. Then, this wonderful list popped into my email today!
I don’t think anything more needs to be said about how we Angels must face this coming year and the challenges it will hold...
Dear Angels,
2009 was quite the year—there were huge challenges and big changes, and through it all we came out stronger than we were before. All year long in 2009, thanks to each of you who pitched in and found a way to help, Soldiers’ Angels rose to the occasion to meet the needs of our troops and their families in wartime.
Dear Angels,
Regardless of how or why you celebrate, this is truly the “Season of Miracles.” And at Soldiers’ Angels, hundreds of thousands of amazing volunteers are setting up miracles on a regular basis. Here are just a few examples…
Dear Angels,
Last week I put out the call for donations to help Soldiers’ Angels ship Holiday care packages to deployed heroes. I was so proud to see you all come through like I knew you would—we received over $20,000 in just the first 36 hours after the first email went out! Wow! My heart is full to see so many people who want to ensure our heroes know we have their backs here at home
This continues to be the busiest time of year for Soldiers’ Angels, and as we focus on the work here at home, we need to make sure we remember our deployed heroes.
Dear Angels,
Our heroes need your help!
Dear Angels,
This Thanksgiving week, I want to thank everyone who has stood up and supported the troops. As you sit down with family and friends on Thursday, please remember those who aren’t with their families because they have volunteered to serve the country. Yet also remember that you helped bring a touch of home not only to those still in harm’s way and far from their families, but support to those on the homefront, too. I am so grateful for all of you, from our military leaders down to our littlest civilians...
Dear Angels,
We’re heading into that busiest season, now! Thank you so much for your support of the Valour-IT fundraiser that just wrapped up—Because of you, we raised over $110,000 for wounded heroes! Now the Holiday care package efforts are in full gear, and those aren’t the only things that we’re keeping an eye on…
Dear Angels,
On Veterans Day we thank all our veterans—past, present and future. We are blessed and inspired by the courage, strength, resiliency and honor they display as they protect America. Today let me tell you about just a few of the tens of thousands who are my heroes…
Dear Angels,
Today I was thinking about our motto and I realized that the first three lines perfectly describe what we're focused on this week, and the ways that each donor's and each volunteer's efforts flow together into a mighty stream that can change a hero's world:
Dear Soldiers’ Angels,
I have so much exciting tech news to share that you’ll think I’m of those brilliant computer geeks! On one side, we have an amazing project for our wounded warriors that is all about—and powered by—computer technology. On the other, we have a great new way to harness the people power that makes Soldiers’ Angels so special…
Dear Soldiers’ Angels,
We live in an amazing world of technology, don’t we? With Soldiers’ Angels it’s so obvious how much of a benefit this can be, as Internet technology brought us all together to work in support of America’s heroes. This week there seems to be so much going on in SA that’s tech –related… from BlogWorld Expo to preparations for the upcoming Valour-IT fundraiser, to a baby shower for 50 moms… and a couple of very little actions with big results in support our heroesl
Dear Soldiers' Angels,
Once again this week, our hearts have been focused on our deployed heroes even more strongly than usual. Whether it ends up on the front page or not, our fighting men and women are sacrificing in big and small ways every day they are deployed. And whether they are recently-returned, or veterans of a long-ago war, those who have served need to know they are remembered and supported.
And sometimes that support can be so very, very simple…
Dear Soldiers’ Angels,
This week is jam-packed with so many things going on that I don’t even have space for a featured Angel! In fact, this week you are ALL my featured Angels—all of you amazing volunteers deserve to be featured for all you’re doing in support of America’s military men and women. Here’s just a sample of the needs and the people who are working to meet them
Dear Soldiers’ Angels,
The need to support and care for our troops and their families continues to grow. Thankfully, this week we also got a boost that will help get out the word, and if we all continue to do what we can while drawing others to the mission we will be able to meet the growing need. Please join me as we work together to care for those who have given so much!
Dear Soldiers’ Angels,
You are really needed this week with two exciting new projects—two great ways to show your support for the troops and your pride in being their Angels…
Dear Soldiers’ Angels,
Lately here at Soldiers’ Angels we’ve been very focused on the loving and supportive things we do for the wounded. It reminded me that the most important support we can give our heroes is person-to-person, making that human connection. On one hand, it can mean touching the aching hearts of those who lose a loved one on the battlefield. On the other, it might look like this: using music and fellowship to connect with people of patriotic spirit, spreading the word about supporting our troops...
Dear Soldiers’ Angels,
As fighting has heated up in Afghanistan, the number of wounded has increased, too. Several recent events have reminded me how big a job caring for our wounded is, and how much our love and support means to the wounded warriors of all generations. They are our true heroes, and it is our proud obligation to do whatever we can to assist them.
Dear Soldiers' Angels,
This week, several events related to taking care of our warriors' hearts and minds have come together all at the same time. From a workshop that helps people deal with traumatic experiences, to wrapping our heroes in the love of a handmade or hand-decorated blanket, to today’s “Featured Angel” who works with the wounded, Soldiers’ Angels is so proud to be standing with an arm around our heroes…
Dear Soldiers’ Angels,
In this time when we are concerned about the economy, we’re all being careful with our money and we’re finding creative ways to give whatever we can. Ultimately it’s not important how much each one of us does, but whether we each do as we are able…
Dear Soldiers' Angels,
We’ve been focusing so much on our heroes in Afghanistan recently, many of whom are facing very challenging conditions. The need continues, but the great news is that the efforts of Angels around the world are having an impact. This week we received lovely notes from our heroes in Afghanistan. Allow me to share just one with you...
