How You Can Support Military Heroes Being Deployed this Year

Help us send supplies overseas through our Go Camo collection drive.

On January 3, 2020 a drone strike ordered by the Pentagon took out Iranian military leader Maj. Gen. Qasem Soleimani. Because of this, tensions between the U.S. have increased in the Middle East and roughly 9,000 troops have been deployed. No matter your politics, this deployment of so many of our service members has been immediate and unexpected. Now is a time for us to come together and show our Nation’s heroes support during this time of uncertainty.

Since 2003, when Founder Patti Patton Bader’s son was deployed after the 9/11 attacks, our mission has been to ensure that “no soldier goes unloved.” “Until they all come home” was Patti’s message from day one – and it still rings true today. That’s why after the news of rapid deployment this year, we launched the Go Camo Care Package campaign.

“For the past seventeen years, it has been the mission of Soldiers’ Angels to support our troops and their families— and right now is no different. Politics aside, there is stress being felt by military families whose futures are unclear. To those families, please know we are with you during this time, and we are here to provide aid and comfort however we can. This is why we exist. Please keep all those heading into harm’s way in your thoughts. May No Soldier Go Unloved.” – Amy Palmer, President & CEO of Soldiers’ Angels

About the Campaign

Our service members need us now more than ever, however our care package supplies are severely depleted after the busy holiday season. The Go Camo Care Package Collection is designed to help us collect top-requested items for care packages to send overseas. These care packages will serve deployed service members who are registered to receive support, as well as Chaplains who may request multiple care packages to support entire units.

In addition to supplies, we need funds to be able to ship our care packages, as shipping costs have continued to increase. Sending one care package to one service member costs Soldiers’ Angels approximately $20. That’s $20 really adds up when you consider the number of service members who need support!

How you can help

There are several ways to get involved.

  1. Set up a collection drive to gather supplies from our list of needs.

  2. Purchase items on your own to send to Soldiers’ Angels HQ.

  3. Purchase items from our Amazon** Wish List and make a cash contribution to help cover the cost of shipping care packages overseas.

  4. Make a cash donation to help us ship the care packages either online here or by mailing a check to our office. Please note on your check that you would like the donation to go to “Go Camo Care Packages.”

Collection Items

We’re collecting hygiene and personal care items, store-bought snack items, and down-time items like puzzle books and travel games. You can find a full list of items being collected, as well as items to avoid on the Go Camo Campaign page here.

Why Care Packages are important

Could you imagine being deployed to a country VERY different from your own? Where you don’t have access to items like that nice shampoo you love, the snacks you keep fully stocked in your pantry, or things to entertain you (there’s no Netflix overseas). These are things we take for granted that our service members miss. These simple things from home are things they can’t just go to the store and buy – someone has to send them. And unfortunately, many service members don’t get the supplies they want – and often need. That’s where Soldiers’ Angels comes in. We’ve been sending care packages for almost two decades and lifting the spirits of our heroes. Our support means so much.
