Never Underestimate the Impact of Kindness

In today's world, it often feels as if kindness was left by the wayside... like way, way, wayside. From being constantly inundated by frightening news of active shooters and grisly acts of war, to the technology addiction that keeps our eyes and our fingers so busy that connecting with those around us becomes an afterthought— the opportunities to feel kind or be kind seem to be less and less.

With that in mind, it is important that we never underestimate the impact of an act of kindness, no matter how small— like this inspiring letter and newspaper article.

Day of the Deployed

Did you know that Day of the Deployed was actually founded by Soldiers’ Angels? Each year on October 26th, we honor the brave men and women who are deployed through this National holiday. Day of the Deployed was first launched in 2006 by then-Governor of North Dakota, John Hoeven, in support of Soldiers’ Angels. The effort spread, and in 2010, 40 states had proclaimed a Day of the Deployed. In 2011, the U.S. Senate passed with 100% yes votes to make the day a National Day of Honor. Learn more about this holiday and how you can show your support.

Supporting Generations

We love receiving thank you messages on Facebook and our website. The messages vary from simple thank you's to longer sentiments about what the support meant to them. Every once in a while we hear stories that touch us so deeply that we just have to know more. This happened recently when Jerik reached out to say thanks for the support we were giving him during his current deployment to the Middle East and that we also supported his father years ago during his deployment to Afghanistan! Here's their story.

Sending Little Bits of Love

Our Sewing and Crafting Team has many dedicated Angels who donate their time and talents to show support and help comfort service members, wounded heroes, veterans, and their families. They make scarves, quilts, hats, “No-Sew Blankets”, lap blankets, baby bundlings, chemo caps and other handcrafted items that are distributed to active duty service members, expectant military families, and in VA hospitals around the country. Learn more about Ann, who is one of those talented Angel volunteers. Her incredible hand-made American flag blankets have become a source of comfort for many that we support.
