Helping Veterans Like John

Highlight image

Meet John! He courageously served in the United States Marine Corps. He drove 1 hour on his scooter to make it to our Mobile Food Distribution in Detroit, Michigan. He never misses an event, and we are always so excited to serve him each month. Our volunteers loaded John's cart with free grocery items such as milk, chicken, eggs, fresh produce, and more! This is just a small way that we serve the men and women who have served us. Thank you John - and thank you to all who have served in the Armed Forces!

Involving children in efforts that support our military and veterans is a great way to talk to them about the sacrifices others make for our country. Sophie has been volunteering at the VA Hospital with her mom and it has really made an impact on her. Surprise Visit from Angels!

May 18, 2017

What a wonderful surprise we had from two of our Angel volunteers! Rebecca and Annie are sisters-- one lives in the Dallas area and the other lives in Boise, Idaho. They coordinated long distance to make some beautiful and unique handmade baby items for Soldiers' Angels Operation Top Knot. Recently, they were on a road trip together and decided to stop into the Soldiers' Angels headquarters in San Antonio and personally drop off some of the amazing items they created! The sets they brought included beautiful knit baby blankets, handmade diaper bags, bibs, and other useful items for babies and moms supported through the OTK program. Thank you Rebecca and Annie!

Thank You Military Spouses!

Friday, May 12 is Military Spouse Appreciation Day! Military spouses endure so much while their husbands/wives are away on deployment. They are on the front lines of support to our service members and selflessly continue their lives while their partners are protecting our country. The Friday before Mother's Day is set aside each year so that we can show our appreciation for these amazing men and women. If you have any military spouses in your life, show them some appreciation on Friday by downloading the Happy Military Spouse Appreciation Day graphic and sharing it with them via social media, email, or text! Holy Care Package, Batman!

Our Angels are so creative! Sometimes sending a care packages to a deployed service member is not just about what's in the care package, but what's on the care package. Imagine how excited you would be to open a box that clearly took imagination, creativity, time, and love! Of course our Angels also fill these crafty containers with great treats, useful items, and other necessities-- but there is no denying how special the recipient will feel when they open a care package like this one. If you have some creative juices dying to get out, take a look at our the Soldiers' Angels Deployed Adoptions Team and share that creativity with the brave men and women serving our country.

Baby Leanne Loves her Gifts!

The Soldiers' Angels Operation Top Knot Team helps welcome beautiful bundles of joy into the world, like baby Leanne. Leanne's mom, Roxanne, is an active duty service member in the US Navy. Operation Top Knot put together a 'virtual' baby shower to welcome Leanne into the world and take some stress off of her brave mom, who is currently stationed overseas. The gifts even included some special handmade items from the Soldiers' Angels Sewing and Crafting Team - a knit blanket, handmade booties, and handmade hats. There were even some Mary Kay lotions included just for mom. If you are interested in helping welcome military babies through virtual baby showers, learn more about the Soldiers' Angels Operation Top Knot Team here.

The First Letter

April is National Card and Letter Writing Month, which is the perfect time for us to highlight and celebrate our amazing Cards Plus Team and Letter Writing Team! When Soldiers' Angels was founded in 2003, the main objective was to send care packages to the deployed-- but thanks to a fantastic suggestion by Angel Sara, the Letter Writing Team was started so our volunteers can reach even more deployed heroes and sheroes. After sending one of the very first letters from the Soldiers' Angels Letter Writing Team, Angel Sara received a very powerful reply from downrange. Read this touching letter here.
