Soldiers' Angels is looking for Community Partners to help us with the work we are doing in our continually expanding list of VA Hospitals that we support. Soldiers' Angels utilizes many volunteers and community partners in order to keep our overhead low and provide as much support as we can to military families, wounded warriors, deployed service members and veterans.
Community partners are simply groups of people who help support our efforts to ensure that no soldier goes unloved. A community partner can be a business, organization, civic group, church, school or any group of people willing to help Soldiers’ Angels support our military throughout the year.
Our Community Partnerships run from January 1-December 31. They can start at any time during the year but end at the end of the year.
As a community partner, you can do a number of things to help – it all depends on your resources and interest. Here are some immediate needs that you may be able to help with.
We have a number of different drives that can be set-up. You can collect and recycle technology products by sending them to The Wireless Alliance. All proceeds from the reuse and recycling of donated items will be sent to Soldiers' Angels. They accept cell phones, batteries, chargers and accessories as well as laptops and other electronics. We also work with the Funding Factory to recycle printer and toner cartridges. All proceeds from the reuse and recycling of printer and toner cartridges will be sent to Soldiers' Angels.
You can also host a collection drive for wish list items to be used in care packages, hygiene kits, sack lunches for homeless vets and to stock VA snack bars. In order to be considered a community partner, your group will need to collect 50 of our wish list items and mail them to an address provided by us.
It costs us approximately $15 to mail each care package and $45 to stuff and mail a care package. Organizing a fundraiser in partnership with us helps us keep sending smiles and much needed items overseas. To be a community partner, groups are asked to raise a minimum of $150 from monetary collections during the calendar year in which your group is participating.
This is ideal if you are in the restaurant industry. Soldiers' Angels hosts numerous luncheons, dinners and BBQs for veterans and ill or injured military at the VA Hospitals we serve.
We've got lots of care packages to stuff, events to help out at and hygiene kits to put together and pass out. If your group is more of a hands-on type of group, we'd love to have you volunteer your time as a community partner.
