Soldiers’ Angels is proud to have a group of military and civilian Angel volunteers who support wounded and ill service members being treated at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) in Germany. The team of Angels provide personal care items, calling cards, clothing, handmade blankets and more. They also visit with patients to provide support and comfort during what can be a very stressful and/or traumatic time. Learn more about the Soldiers' Angels Team in Germany.

Registration is now open for those interested in becoming an official Halloween Candy Buyback site for the 2017 Soldiers' Angels Treats for Troops Program. A Halloween Candy Buyback is a program in which local businesses, traditionally but not limited to dental offices, agree to accept excess Halloween candy from kids in exchange for goodies. Through the Soldiers’ Angels Treats for Troops Halloween Candy Buyback program, businesses can register to serve as a buyback site for this program. Not only will you be serving the community by removing excess candy from the mouths of children, but also serving our service members, wounded heroes, and veterans. For families with too much candy in your home, this is your opportunity to support a good cause, allow your kids to earn buyback prizes, and receive a tax deductible receipt for your donation. This year, our goal is to collect 17,000 pounds of candy for our service members and veterans! Click here to learn more about Treats for Troops or to register as an official Buyback site.

A group of deployed U.S. service members have taken on a project to help with the education of females at a new school near their base in Afghanistan. Kaylan, a female service member who is leading the outreach project, reached out to Soldiers' Angels in search of support in the form of school supplies. Eager to support her effort, the opportunity was presented to Soldiers' Angels Angel volunteers and they responded in a HUGE way! Learn more about Kaylan and the hard work Angels are doing to support her efforts to help these little girls learn.
Marc Pro is manufacturing a special version of their electrical stimulation device-- the Marc Pro Plus® Hero Edition. This device, used by elite competitors and serious athletes, is able to provide substantial recovery and pain relief benefits. And now, in addition to helping athletes, the device will also help our military service members and veterans. For every Marc Pro Plus® Hero Edition purchased, Marc Pro will donate $50 to Soldiers' Angels.

Employees from Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) came together on July 25th to bake cookies for veterans -- 600 cookies to be exact!! The cookies were then distributed at the Los Angeles VA by Soldiers' Angels "Angel" volunteers who run the coffee cart at that hospital. This is the second year SoCalGas has come together to bake this delicious treat. Thank you to all SoCalGas employees for your hard work for our veterans!
We had a wonderful post to the Soldiers' Angels Facebook Page that we wanted to be sure to share with all of the amazing volunteers, donors, and supporters of our organization:
"Last night a young man sat down and started chatting with me. The conversation soon turned into talking about the years he spent in the Army. I then briefly mentioned working with Soldiers' Angels. This young mans face lit up with a huge smile as he expressed his great appreciation for Soldiers' Angels. He said the Angels don't realize how meaningful the care packages are to the troops. He explained how he had to go several weeks without a shower and receiving something as small as a little pack of baby wipes was like a piece of heaven. He said he received several care packages throughout his years of service and to this day still has all of the handmade cards received from children. I felt I should share this story so that everyone involved with Soldiers' Angels will see the hard work, dedication, unselfish acts of kindness, and love you put into Soldiers' Angels is greatly appreciated by the troops!"
Soldiers' Angels Vice-Chair, Mike Wallace, and an Angel volunteer pose with a veteran attending the July Veteran Mobile Food Distribution in San Antonio, Texas. The veteran attended the drive-through event on his motorized wheelchair and, with the help of Mike and the volunteers, loaded the groceries on the back of his chair in reusable bags. The event in San Antonio was held on Thursday, July 20th in the parking lot of Rackspace Hosting. Concurrently, the Soldiers' Angels Veteran Mobile Food Distribution in Detroit, Michigan was also happening. Click here for more photos from this month's San Antonio Veteran Mobile Food Distribution or here for the Detroit Veteran Mobile Food Distribution.
Last year, Soldiers’ Angels was honored to have an amazing exchange student from Vietnam volunteer with us! During his stay in Florida, Trung Nguyen, a junior in High School, decided that free time was unnecessary (yep, a teenager said that!). So instead of wasting time, he assisted our team in Tampa with their work at the VA Hospital. Read more about Trung in our latest Angel Blog.
Friday, July 14th marked another successful month of the Soldiers' Angels Hunger Relief Program in both Charleston, South Carolina and Denver, Colorado. Each event provided over 200 low-income, at-risk, and homeless veteran families with much-needed food assistance. Many of the attending families rely on the food assistance they receive from Soldiers' Angels just to keep food on the table for their families. In addition to Charleston and Denver, the Soldiers' Angels Veteran Mobile Food Distribution also occurs monthly in Detroit, Michigan and San Antonio, Texas. Additional events in other cities are in the works for the near future.
Can you imagine a morning without coffee? For some of our deployed service members, a cup of morning coffee may be a luxury. Luckily, Soldiers' Angels has thousands of bags ready to get to our troops... we just need your help to cover the cost of shipping. Shipping one care package, which costs $18, will supply enough coffee to make 496 cups of coffee! Click here if you can help us ship one or more care packages of coffee to deployed service members.
